Marriott loyalty unification

Marriott loyalty unification

MARRIOTT International has “unlocked the full potential” of its loyalty programs, according to svp of Global Loyalty David Flueck, with the hotelier revealing it will introduce one set of unified benefits across Marriott Rewards, The Ritz-Carlton Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guests (SPG).

The unified benefits will take effect in Aug, providing members with the ability to earn more points faster – on average, 20% more points for every dollar spent, Marriott said.

For the first time, members will have access to book stays and earn or redeem points among the 29 participating brands, consisting of 6,500 hotels in 127 countries and territories globally.

“Our members can enjoy one set of benefits across our extraordinary portfolio of hotels from iconic full and select service, to extended stay, to unique boutiques and luxury brands,” Flueck commented.

Members of Marriott Rewards, The Ritz-Carlton Rewards and SPG will be able to combine their accounts into a single account, spanning the entire portfolio.

The loyalty program names will continue to be used until a new program name rolls out in 2019.

Starting Aug, travellers will also have the ability to book stays across the entire collection for the first time on Marriott.com and SPG.com, as well as the Marriott and SPG apps, or via a customer call centre.

Under the unified benefits, a single points currency will be introduced and blackout dates for points redemption will be axed.

Marriott also said its Moments experiential platform, currently offering 110,00 experiences such as attraction tickets and tours in 1,000 locations, will be expanded to include Moments Live event series – CLICK HERE for more.
