TD breaking news – Flight Centre acquires Umapped

Deal said to fuel FCTG digital transformation.

Flight Centre has just announced the acquisition of Toronto-based Umapped, a technology firm which provides travel documentation, communication and itinerary management software for the travel industry.

Umapped products are already being used by FCTG’s GOGO wholesale business in the USA, and will now be rolled out in other Flight Centre businesses globally. The offering will be a “key feature of FCB 2.0, the next generation Flight Centre brand offering in Australia,” the company said.

The software includes the Trip Publisher itinerary builder along with TripLinQ API services, which consolidates bookings, curated content and real-time location data into a single interface.

Travel consultants will have access to collaborative features, chat and real-time updates that are delivered to their customers.

“We have been impressed with the platform and believe it can have a positive impact on our consultants’ productivity and on our customers’ travel experiences,” said Flight Centre ceo Graham Turner.

Flight Centre will take 100% ownership of Umapped, with the purchase price undisclosed. The business has 16 staff, including an 11-person development team.
