Statistics Indonesia: Tourist arrivals up 10.22% as of Q3-2025

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reports that the Southeast Asian country welcomed 11.43 million foreign tourist arrivals in the first nine months of 2025.

In the report released on Monday, 3rd November, the number of foreign arrivals was up 10.22 percent from the same period last year.

In September alone, 1.39 million foreign visitors came to Indonesia, marking a year-on-year increase of 9.04 percent.

BPS’ deputy for distribution and services statistics Pudji Ismartini commented at the Monday press conference: “The largest number of foreign tourists in September came from Malaysia, Australia, and Singapore.”

Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport remained the busiest entry point, handling 634,482 arrivals, according to the agency.

Other relevant findings

Statistics Indonesia likewise reported that the average tourist expenditure in Q3-2025 was at US$1,297.31 per visit, somewhat higher than the total reported in Q2.

Interestingly, Ismartini pointed out that the average expenditure was lower than that recorded in the same period in 2024.

Meanwhile, the average length of stay for foreign tourists as of Q3-2025 was recorded at 10.7 nights per person. 

The bulk of tourist expenditures still went to accommodation at 37.31 percent, followed by food and beverages at 19.40 percent, and shopping and souvenirs 10.98 percent.

According to Ismartini: “This expenditure pattern has not changed much compared to the previous quarter.”
