The post Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood Unleash Serial Killer, Art the Clown appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

 The twisted world of Art the Clown comes to life in this year’s all-new “Terrifier” haunted house inspired by the slasher film franchise that has consistently terrorised filmgoers since 2008. The torment kicks off at Universal Orlando Resort on Friday, 29 August and at Universal Studios Hollywood on Thursday, 4 September.

Spewing from creator, writer, director Damien Leone and producer Phil Falcone along with Dark Age Cinema Productions, Terrifier introduced a new slasher film series to the cinematic world, featuring Art the Clown, a supernatural entity who terrorizes the fictional town of Miles County, New York, on Halloween and tortures victims in creatively cruel and sickeningly sinister ways. The Terrifier film franchise has evolved to become three chilling and gory movies with a fourth film in development and a Halloween Horror Nights haunted house on the way.

During Halloween Horror Nights, guests will experience an unfathomable level of gore as they try to escape becoming Art the Clown’s next victim. “Terrifier” is a grisly haunted house oozing with a new sense of terror that takes guests into Art the Clown’s gruesome Funhouse, which first appeared in Terrifier 2. Guests will be overwhelmed by the sights, sounds, smells and dread of Art’s grotesque kills, gleefully displayed for all to see. As fans make their way through the claustrophobic corridors, they will encounter familiar faces, including Vicky and the Little Pale Girl, and witness iconic kills from the franchise. Chaos reigns at the Clown Café, terror festers in a revolting bathroom, and holiday cheer turns deadly in a Christmas nightmare. Guests must escape Art’s twisted world—or become his next gruesome display.

Inspired by the “Terrifier” haunted house, fans can purchase new, limited release products, including a t-shirt and bag available now at Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood and on Shop.UniversalOrlando.com, beginning Friday, July 11. Additionally, a new graphic puzzle piece for “Terrifier” is available to fit into the collectable Halloween Horror Nights frame. Fans can collect this piece along with others representing this year’s killer line-up to assemble and create a bloody mural within the frame.

Additional event details, including new haunted houses coming to Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort, will be revealed soon.

Tickets for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort are available via several travel partners, including AttractionTickets.com, Floridatix, Orlando Attraction Tickets, Travel Republic, TUI, and Virgin Atlantic Holidays

BGS achieves 100% on-time performance with Wizz Air two months in a row

The post BGS achieves 100% on-time performance with Wizz Air two months in a row appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

In June, for the second consecutive month, Baltic Ground Services (BGS), achieved 100% on-time performance for Wizz Air flights at Vilnius Airport. The company was able to achieve this result despite the summer season increase of passengers and the typical challenges associated with the summer vacation period.

Flight delays are common during the summer months mainly due to the increased number of flights and passengers. IATA data shows that passenger demand jumped by 9.1% in June, with load factors at 85%. Industry professionals predict that this summer may be the worst  in history in terms of the number of delayed flights.

And the summer vacation season is not the only reason why flights get delayed. For example, on June 25, Belgium experienced a 24-hour national strike, which halted all outgoing flights. According to Vitalis Dudys, BGS Group Head of Commerce, considering all these factors, the 100% on-time performance becomes even more impressive.

“In aviation, summer is both the busiest and most chaotic season. There are numerous reasons for this – crowds, strikes, weather conditions, and so on. Ground handling services are complex in and of themselves, and in such circumstances, the margin for any errors becomes even smaller. It’s all the more reason to feel proud of this achievement,” he says.

Meanwhile, Grzegorz Michalec, Ground Operations Manager at Wizz Air, emphasizes that during the summer months, every minute counts, as airlines face a more challenging environment due to limited Air Traffic Management (ATC) slots, airport capacity, and high demand. Even a single minute can mean a missed ATC slot, resulting in additional hours of delays, a disrupted crew roster, canceled flights, and disappointed and frustrated customers.

“The BGS ground handling team perfectly understands what’s at stake here and perfectly collaborated with Wizz Air crews, consistently going the extra mile and making sure that our passengers would get to their destination safely and on time. This type of commitment makes operations better and smoother,” he says.

Achieving 100% punctuality in aviation remains rare. In most cases, airlines set their ground handling service-providing partners with a target of 97-98%. According to Mr. Dudys, BGS itself has an internal goal of 99.2%, which is also unusually ambitious by industry standards.

“Achieving 100% punctuality for two consecutive months is one of the most significant results an airport ground handling company can achieve, because we are only as good as the services we provide. Over the years, BGS was able to gather a team full of professionals who create real value for the clients,” he says.

Malaysia welcomes maiden flight of Loong Air’s new Xi’an-Kuala Lumpur route

The post Malaysia welcomes maiden flight of Loong Air’s new Xi’an-Kuala Lumpur route appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

Malaysia welcomed the arrival of Loong Air’s new inaugural flight of Xi’an-Kuala Lumpur route at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 last 6th July.

This inaugural flight marked a key milestone in strengthening tourism ties and economic cooperation between Malaysia and China.

Loong Air’s entry into the Malaysia market is more than just an airline expansion: it is a strategic collaboration aligned with Malaysia’s broader tourism vision.

As such, it sets the stage for deeper partnerships across aviation, investment, and cultural exchange, further enriching the country’s tourism ecosystem and economic landscape.

A warm welcome

A special welcoming ceremony was held at the airport with Tourism Malaysia deputy chair Yeoh Soon Hin and deputy director-general Samuel Lee in attendance, together with senior representatives from Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB).

Leading the delegation from Loong Air was airline vice-president for overseas business Li Dong whose attendance symbolises the airline’s growing commitment to Malaysia as a key Southeast Asian hub.

Yeoh said at the event: “With Kuala Lumpur now directly connected to Xi’an, we’re opening more doors for tourism, business, and cultural exchange. This enhanced connectivity reaffirms Malaysia’s position as a gateway to ASEAN and a must-visit destination for international travellers.”

A thrice-weekly service

This new route, operated by a 174-seat Airbus A320, will fly three times weekly: on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

  • Flight GJ8721 departs Xi’an Xianyang International Airport (XIY) at 8:35 PM, arriving at KLIA (KUL) at 1:55 AM.
  • Return flight GJ8722 departs Kuala Lumpur at 2:55 AM, arriving in Xi’an at 7:55 AM.

This timely expansion supports Malaysia’s strategic goals for Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026), which aims to welcome more Chinese travellers, currently one of Malaysia’s top tourist source markets.

From January to April 2025, 1.44 million visitors from China were recorded, reflecting a 37.8 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

The momentum is further supported by Malaysia’s visa-free entry policy for Chinese nationals, extended until 31st December, providing seamless access and encouraging longer stays.

Making the most out of a stay at Chiva-Som Hua Hin

The post Making the most out of a stay at Chiva-Som Hua Hin appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

Throughout the past week, we’ve shared insights regarding the benefits a stay at Chiva-Som Hua Hin could have on one’s physical and mental health.

Over several days, Travel Daily Media chief executive Gary Marshall shared his insights on his own personal experience at the resort, detailing both the pleasure of being there as well as the benefits offered by the various modalities and treatments on offer.

As Gary himself puts it: “A stay at Chiva-Som Hua Hin is something I would recommend to everyone, from those in need of a respite from the stressful tedium of everyday life to those who need guided experiences for recovery or athletic conditioning.”

That said, the final installment of our series on Chiva-Som Hua Hin offers several tips with which those planning a stay, short or long, can take advantage of for a more meaningful wellness escape.

Pointers for a healthful getaway

  • Go for the consultations when you get there     Individual health and wellness assessments are included with every stay package, but the total physical analysis and skin consultation are optional. We recommend, however, that you make it a point to avail of these as findings can go a long way when it comes to devising your personal treatment or wellness plan;
  • Be candid with your wellness advisor     Whether you’re going in for the standard assessments or add in the more specialised consultations, make it a point to be upfront with your wellness advisor. For this reason, be ready to share diagnostic information from your physician if necessary, or show them the standard workout plan you follow with your personal trainer back home;
  • Attend your treatments and workouts as scheduled     We know you’ve booked yourself a getaway, but remember that you also booked this as a way of getting your systems back in sync. Make it a point to be there for your treatments, especially those involving physical therapy or cranial/stress relief. Likewise, keeping to mandated workout schedules ensures that your body becomes accustomed to a new or revised regimen; and
  • Ask for a workout or wellness plan you can follow when you get home     Often, it is far too easy to forget the routines you had whilst on vacation no matter how good these are for your overall wellness. Be sure to bring a bit of the Chiva-Som experience back home by asking your wellness advisor or fitness trainer as to how to manage workouts when you’re back on your own or with your regular exercise coach. This also applies to nutrition, so have a talk with the on-site nutritionist on how best to follow your diet when the trip is over.

Surround yourself with the wellness-boosting power of nature

The beauty of Chiva-Som Hua Hin is that it is located in a natural paradise which has its own way of giving guests a healthily relaxing experience.

  • Breathe deep     We mentioned in one of the first articles in the series that breathing salt air at the coastline offers a variety of health benefits, including improved skin and respiratory health, as well as calming stressed-out minds. Chiva-Som Hua Hin’s refreshing atmosphere ensures that guests make the most out of the experience. Plus, for those in need of guided stress relief and relaxation, the aromatherapy solutions offered by the resort run the gamut of essential oils that have been used in the traditional practice of ensuring wellness for generations;
  • Go for a walk in nature     The Japanese concept of shinrin-yoku or forest bathing is one that is in practice at Chiva-Som Hua Hin. The resort actively talks about its initiatives in sustainability and offers guests the additional experience of touring through its own mangrove forests where they can learn more about its conservation efforts. If trekking through the forest isn’t your thing, a walk on the beach or taking part in watersports also helps;
  • Ask about how you can live more sustainably     As stated above, sustainability is one of Chiva-Som Hua Hin’s core values and is something it wishes to impart to its guests. Have a go at it yourself by looking in on the resorts’ initiatives in organic farming and farm-to-table gastronomy. Doing so enables you to pick up a variety of pointers with which to start your own sustainability journey;
  • Turn off your tech     Before we forget, some areas of the resort are no-phone zones. Besides, you’re at Chiva-Som to relax, unwind, and recover from the rigours of daily existence. Switching off your devices also means that you get to experience the amenities offered more deeply, enabling you to enjoy your stay in a more thorough manner; and
  • Bring the organic experience home     Make it a point to look in on the resort’s boutique for a variety of items that will let you bring the island experience home. With products ranging from its own line of organic skincare solutions to a range of tasty treats made with the most wholesome ingredients, the boutique is a great way to bring Chiva-Som’s best into your everyday life.

For more information regarding the services, amenities, and accommodations at Chiva-Som Hua Hin, be sure to visit their official website.

Air India Crash Update: Fuel switches turned off just before impact

The post Air India Crash Update: Fuel switches turned off just before impact appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

Part of the doomed plane lies in the crash site and is looked over by the authorities (AP Photo)

Current as of 10:45am, BKK; this is an ongoing story and Travel Daily Media will update when new information is available.

The results of the preliminary investigation into the deadly crash of Air India Flight 171 on 12th June show that the aircraft’s fuel switches had been set to the cutoff position just before impact.

According to a report from the Associated Press (AP) updated at 12:11am BKK today, 13th July, investigators noted that the fuel control switches of the ill-fated Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner were moved from the “run” to the “cutoff” position, depriving its engines of fuel.

In turn, this led to a loss of engine thrust soon after the plane took off.

The Indian Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) pointed out that there was confusion on the part of both pilots regarding the changed settings.

This graphic from Australia’s ABC News shows how it is unlikely that the fuel switches were turned off accidentally

What we know so far

The Air India flight lasted around 30 seconds between takeoff and impact.

Per the report, once the Dreamliner hit its top recorded speed: “Engine 1 and Engine 2 fuel cutoff switches transitioned from RUN to CUTOFF position one after another.”

This unusual situation occurred in mere seconds, but the initial report made no mention as to how the switches could have flipped to the cutoff position during the flight.

Indeed, Australian experts speaking with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)’s news bureau pointed out how unlikely it was that the shift was accidental.

Australian International Pilots Association (AIPA) technical director and 737 pilot Steve Cornell declared: “It’s not the situation where you would just both be sitting there very quietly. It’ll be a very busy time trying to work out what had happened and trying to fix it.”

Cornell and other experts say that it is impossible to flip or even bump into these switches by accident.

Boeing engineers designed the fuel switches with a locking mechanism that prevents inadvertent movement.

Unlike the aircraft’s thrust levers, the fuel control switches are not connected to the plane’s autopilot function.

That also means it is highly unlikely that the plane could have somehow malfunctioned and automatically flipped the switches to the cutoff setting.

Cornell said: “The only thing that can affect their position is something that we do as pilots.”

Another Australian aviation expert, Keith Tonkin, concurred with this, saying: “It means that almost certainly, one of the pilots, who would be the only people able to access those switches, has made the decision to physically switch the fuel off to the engines.”

This supposition is chilling as it raises the possibility that the crash may have been a deliberate move on the part of one of the pilots.

Indian expert theorises that this was no accident

Invited to comment for Indian news network NDTV on Saturday, 12th July, just as the initial findings were released, one of the country’s leading aviation experts posited the theory of deliberate human action

Mohan Ranganathan called the public’s attention towards the sequence of fuel cutoff switches and cockpit audio, giving weight to the possibility that the crash may have stemmed from deliberate actions taken in the cockpit, potentially even suicide.

Ranganathan explained, essentially echoing the statements of his Australian peers: “It has to be manually done. It cannot be done automatically or due to a power failure because the fuel selectors are not the sliding type. They are designed to stay in a slot, and you have to pull them out to move them up or down. So, the possibility of inadvertently moving them to the OFF position doesn’t arise. It’s definitely a case of deliberate manual selection to move it to OFF.”

He went on to say that there is no other possible explanation, given current findings, as to why both the fuel switches were moved to the OFF position just after takeoff and just as the engines began rotating.

Ranganathan also pointed out a dialogue between the pilots captured by the aircraft’s audio recorder: “According to the cockpit voice recorder, one pilot asks, ‘Why did you do it?’ and the other pilot responds, ‘I did not do it.’ This is where the report shows some discrepancies,”

Indian authorities, however, have asked the public to refrain from jumping to further conclusions pending the ongoing investigation which could run till the end of the year.

Civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu went so far as to say: “I don’t think we should jump into any conclusions over this. I believe we have the most wonderful workforce of pilots and crew in the whole world. I have to appreciate all the efforts the pilots and crew of the country are putting; they are the backbone of civil aviation. They are the primary resource of civil aviation. We care for the welfare and well-being of the pilots also. So let us not jump into any conclusions at this stage and wait for the final report,”

More questions than answers

In addition to the details regarding the fuel switches, the report also pointed out that Air India Flight 171 was nearly 5,000kg under the maximum take-off weight, still within permissible limits.

Likewise, no dangerous goods were noted on the aircraft, and there was no significant avian activity within the vicinity of the flight path that could have put bird strikes as a potential factor.

Given the current results, the AAIB also stated that there are presently no recommended actions involving Boeing and/or GE engine operators and manufacturers.

But for the families left behind by those who perished in the crash, the initial report brings no comfort.

Speaking with the BBC, Imtiyaz Ali who lost his brother, sister-in-law, and their two children was disappointed, referring to the way the report was presented as more like a product description.

Ali said: “Other than the pilots’ final conversation, there’s nothing in it that really points to what caused the crash. This matters to us; we want to know exactly what happened. It won’t change anything for us now, we continue grieving just as we have since that day. But at least we’ll have some answers.”

For now, alas, the results of the investigation have raised more questions than answers, questions that we may not see answered until the end of the investigation.

Boasting of 526 elegant all-suite rooms, each suite comes with a private balcony offering sweeping views of the legendary Straits of Malacca, setting the stage for an unforgettable escape steeped in both sophistication and serenity.

Birkin International Hotel is more than just a place to stay: it’s an experience designed with the mindful modern traveller in mind.

That said, it offers a peaceful retreat that blends timeless heritage with contemporary design.

The property is purposefully situated away from the bustle of city life, offering an atmosphere of calm, connection, and discovery just minutes away from Melaka’s UNESCO heritage treasures like Jonker Street, A Famosa, and Stadthuys.
