Delta has unveiled a new premium lounge at Lagos Airport on 1st July, ahead of deploying its newest aircraft, the A350-900 and A330-900neo, on U.S. routes this October, boosting capacity and comfort for Nigerian travellers. 

Delta Air Lines is enhancing the travel experience for customers flying between Nigeria and the U.S. with a series of significant upgrades that underscore the airline’s long-term commitment to the region.

Beginning 1st July, Delta customers departing from Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) will enjoy a newly renovated premium lounge space, designed to deliver a more elevated and comfortable ground experience.

As part of its continued investment in the transatlantic journey, Delta will also introduce its newest and most advanced aircraft on routes between Lagos and the U.S. starting this October. These enhancements reflect Delta’s ongoing focus on delivering a world-class experience both on the ground and in the air.

“With the launch of our new premium lounge in Lagos and the introduction of our most advanced aircraft on our routes, we are reaffirming Delta’s commitment to Nigerian travellers,” said Matteo Curcio Delta’s

A Premium Ground Experience: New Lounge at LOS

Delta’s new lounge at Lagos’ international terminal is set to redefine comfort and convenience for travellers flying to the U.S. The upgraded facility will offer an elevated customer experience with more space, contemporary Nigerian-inspired design, high-speed Wi-Fi, private relaxation areas and premium refreshments. The lounge will cater to Delta One customers as well as valued oil and gas clientele.

This move represents more than just a change in location; it’s a strategic investment in customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. By providing an elevated pre-flight experience, Delta continues to position itself as a leader in premium transatlantic travel from West Africa.

Delta’s Most Advanced Aircraft Set to Serve Nigeria

Starting in October, Delta will introduce its newest and most technologically advanced aircraft, the Airbus A350-900, on the Lagos–Atlanta (LOS–ATL) route. Then between Dec. 2 and Jan. 16, the Airbus A330-900neo will be deployed on the Lagos–New York (LOS–JFK) route during the busy holiday travel season.

Joseph Young, Delta’s General Manager for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, commented: “Delta has served Lagos for nearly 20 years, and it is a vital gateway for us,” said Joseph Young, Delta’s General Manager for Europe. “These enhancements reflect our long- standing partnership with Nigeria. Whether it’s the comfort of Delta One Suites or the warm hospitality in our new lounge, we’re elevating every step of the journey for our customers.”

The A350-900, Delta’s flagship aircraft, replaces the A330-200 on the Atlanta route and brings a 35% increase in seat capacity. It offers a quieter experience, improved fuel efficiency, wider seats and a refined in-flight experience.

The A330-900neo will operate on the New York-JFK route, delivers better cabin pressure, humidity, and a quieter, more comfortable journey than the A330-200.

Both aircraft are equipped with Delta’s signature Delta One Suites, featuring lie-flat seats with sliding doors for privacy, luxury bedding and personalized service. Delta Premium Select offers more space and elevated dining, while Delta Main provides individual entertainment, ambient lighting, and increased personal space. Passengers will also benefit from advanced air filtration systems and quieter cabins designed for greater relaxation on long-haul journeys.

As of early April 2025, all customers flying across Delta’s transatlantic network to West Africa and Europe, will have access to fast, free Delta Sync Wi-Fi presented by T-Mobile.

Delta and Missoni, the renowned Italian fashion brand, are expanding their partnership as the brands elevate customers’ time in the air with comfort, sophistication and style.

This year, the partnership will launch a luxurious Delta One collection, which includes a Missoni bedding set designed for Delta, along with a suite of amenities that include a refreshed Delta One amenity kit, custom socks, slippers and an eye mask. To enhance sleep experience, Delta is also expanding its customer-favourite mattress pad and adding a memory foam cuddle pillow to flights over 12 hours.

As Delta continues to strengthen its relationship with Nigerian travellers, these investments promise a new era of seamless, comfortable, and world-class transatlantic travel, from check-in to touchdown.

Flynas announced launching three direct weekly flights between Riyadh and Moscow as of the first of August, this steps comes in collaboration with the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA), adding the Russian capital to its ever-growing network, in line with flynas growth and expansion plan and parallel with the national objectives in the tourism and aviation sectors in the Kingdom.

Effective August 1st, three weekly flights will be operated between King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, providing flynas guests with an additional convenient option for direct air travel between the two countries.

Adding Moscow to the flynas network will also offer Russian visitors the opportunity to visit Saudi Arabia, explore its rich history and culture, and discover world-class destinations such as Diriyah, AlUla, and the Red Sea.

This expansion is part of flynas’ strategic plan launched under the slogan “We Connect the World to the Kingdom,” which supports the objectives of the National Civil Aviation Strategy to link the Kingdom with 250 international destinations, accommodate 330 million passengers, and host 150 million tourists annually by 2030. It also aligns with the goals of the Pilgrims Experience Program to facilitate access to the Two Holy Mosques.

The Emirates Group’s efforts to align with this year’s UN call to end plastic pollution were on display at its ‘Tomorrow Takes Flight’ event, its annual sustainability showcase. The exhibition echoed the international organisation’s mission to reduce single-use plastic products, spotlighting Emirates’ and dnata’s efforts and approach to ‘Consuming Responsibly’ through sourcing, reusing, repurposing, and reducing plastic and other materials.

This year’s exhibition showcased initiatives that are driving impact across the organisation, including projects at both Emirates and dnata being implemented with like-minded partners and across departments and businesses like engineering, catering, cargo, airport operations, travel, service delivery, and others.

On the conference stage, employees heard about the work Emirates, dnata and partners are doing to advance sustainable practices, with panellists from Emirates Engineering, Flight Operations, Service Delivery, Emirates SkyCargo and dnata Technical Services in addition to a powerful lineup of industry partners like the University of Cambridge, the UAE GCAA, Airbus, Boeing, ENOC, Cobus Industries GmbH, TLD, Mallaghan, GE Aerospace, Rolls-Royce and Dubai Airports contributing to discussions.

Speaking at the opening of ‘Tomorrow Takes Flight’, Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ Deputy President & Chief Operations Officer said: “Today’s event celebrates our sustainability journey while educating and inspiring our people through the showcased initiatives and meaningful discussions on sustainable practices. Environmental responsibility is essential to achieving our objectives as an airline and as an industry, and it supports the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy.

With governments and communities demanding meaningful action, collective responsibility across the entire ecosystem is vital. Emirates is making progress with emissions reduction projects across our operations, and we’re actively pursuing programmes that conserve resources through recycling and responsible sourcing. Collaboration with industry partners will be crucial in the years ahead to enhance the recyclability of materials across the supply chain.

We’re also encouraging our teams to build on the success of existing initiatives and push boundaries to develop new approaches that address the full spectrum of operational waste, and today is a great example of these drives. From cabin materials and catering to ground operations and maintenance, every touchpoint presents an opportunity to minimise environmental impact.”

Sustainability initiatives on showcase included:

  • The next chapter of ‘Aircrafted by Emirates’, which includes transforming retired aircraft parts into functionally aesthetic items with a focus on metal and different composite materials
  • Service Delivery teams presented onboard products using alternative or recycled materials
  • Plastic cleanup efforts at the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve
  • An Emirates Flight Catering biodigester interactive display
  • Sustainable food samples provided by MMI, Emirates Leisure Retail, dnata Catering & Retail and Emirates Flight Catering

dnata showcased its global sustainability efforts through a diverse range of initiatives across its international businesses at the event. The Catering team highlighted the use of plant-based packaging and a commitment to minimising waste by making the most of every ingredient in their kitchens. dnata Cargo demonstrated its comprehensive recycling programmes, while marhaba presented lounge initiatives focused on reducing food waste. The event also featured sustainability projects from dnata Travel, including the deployment of a river interceptor in Sri Lanka to prevent ocean pollution and the distribution of reusable items to employees – reinforcing the company’s commitment to responsible consumption.

Partners like Ecyclex and Reloop demonstrated how different waste streams are recycled, including e-waste, in collaboration with Emirates Group IT, and dedicated a part of their display for employees to drop recyclables; Falcon Aircraft Recycling showcased products made of recycled aircraft parts and Dubai Can illustrated the progress of its Dubai Reef project, the world’s largest single purpose-built reef development. The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) outlined global sustainability principles, SDG’s and this year’s UN theme to #beatplasticpollution. Dubai Airports showcased how they are tackling airport-specific waste through innovation and collaboration, driving meaningful reductions across the airport community.

Employees also participated in quizzes and games, booth challenges, and other interactive activities to win prizes. Participants were also encouraged to contribute to the event’s ‘Bottle Wall’, prior to the event.  Collected bottles were upcycled into custom plant pots for staff to take home as part of the Tomorrow Takes Flight challenge.

Xuzhou becomes Greater Bay Airlines’ seventh destination in Mainland China

Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) announced that Xuzhou in Jiangsu Province will be its  seventh destination in Mainland China beginning 1st August. 

Per a statement issued today, 7th July, this new route will  operate two flights per week, every Monday and Friday, between Hong Kong and Xuzhou’s Xuzhou Guanyin International Airport. 

Whilst pending regulatory approval, flight schedules for the Hong Kong – Xuzhou service are as follows: 

  • HB848 from Hong Kong to Xuzhou flies at 0745 on Mondays and Fridays; and
  • HB849 from Xuzhou to Hong Kong flies at 1120 on Mondays and Fridays.

Flight bookings may be done via the official GBA website or through authorised travel agencies.

A culturally rich destination

Located in the northwestern part of Jiangsu Province, Xuzhou is a famous national historical and cultural city designated by the State Council, well conserved with the  cultural heritage of the Han Dynasty. 

Also named as a National Garden City, Xuzhou is widely covered with green spaces that pair beautifully with its many historic landmarks.  

Among the city’s numerous tourist attractions are Yunlong Lake Scenic Area, Binhu  Park, King of Chu Tomb, Baolian Temple, and the Museum of Underwater Terracotta  Warriors and Horses.
