Institute of Hospitality renews endorsement for tourism for All’s  Accessibility Training Courses

The post Institute of Hospitality renews endorsement for tourism for All’s  Accessibility Training Courses  appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

The Institute of Hospitality (IoH) has renewed its endorsement of Tourism for All’s (TFA) online disability and accessibility awareness training courses. This  renewal highlights the value of TFA’s efforts in promoting inclusivity within the tourism sector.

IoH’s continued support recognises the high quality of TFA’s training, which equips tourism  businesses with the skills and knowledge needed to enhance accessibility for disabled  travellers. TFA’s training programme plays a key role in helping businesses meet the needs of  all customers and contribute to a more inclusive tourism industry.

“This renewal reinforces our ongoing commitment to improving accessibility in the tourism  sector. It reflects the growing industry recognition of the importance of providing services that  cater to the needs of disabled travellers,” said Raymond Veal, CEO of Tourism for All.

TFA’s initiatives continue to make a significant impact. Its Travel Planner platform, which lists  accessible accommodation, attractions, and restaurants, has seen a 40% increase in user  engagement year-on-year. Additionally, the economic contribution of disabled travellers is  substantial, with the Purple Pound estimated at £14.6 billion annually to the English economy.  As the population of disabled individuals continues to rise, businesses that adapt to this growing  market are well-positioned for long-term success.

The UK government has set an ambitious target to become Europe’s most accessible tourism  destination by 2030, alongside a new ambition to welcome 50 million international visitors per  year. This goal highlights the importance of businesses embracing accessibility as a core part  of their operations. By addressing barriers and fostering inclusivity, the tourism industry can  unlock new growth opportunities, contributing to a more equitable and prosperous tourism  landscape.

Robert Richardson FIH MI, CEO of the Institute of Hospitality, said, “We are proud to continue  our endorsement of Tourism for All’s online training courses. Their efforts set new standards  for accessibility and inclusion, helping to ensure the tourism sector is welcoming to all visitors.”

The highly anticipated sporting event was organised by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Sands China Ltd., and the General Association of Athletics of Macau. Launched in 2021, it has attracted approximately 40,000 runners to date since its inception. This year’s 10K was an official activity of the “Culture City of East Asia 2025 – Macao, China” programme of events.

Starting from Sai Van Lake Square and finishing up at the Olympics Sports Centre – Stadium, the route took them along Macao’s beautiful coastline, over the Sai Van Bridge and, for the first time, to the Cotai Strip. The runners enjoyed Macao’s picturesque landscape on the way, passing by tourist attractions unique to Macao. They were cheered on throughout the course by well-wishers, including Sands China’s signature entertainment performers from The Venetian® Macao, The Parisian® Macao and The Londoner Macao®, creating a festive atmosphere.

Dr. Wilfred Wong, executive vice chairman of Sands China Ltd., said: “Sands China is honoured to promote the in-depth integration of ‘tourism + sport’ and contribute to showcasing Macao’s unique characteristic of embracing diverse cultures with the 2025 Sands China Macao International 10K. This year’s event attracted runners from around the world, featuring an extended route to the Cotai Strip for the first time. This enhancement not only promotes the brand development of Macao’s sports tourism, but also encourages the general public to engage in sports. Moreover, the Fun Run provided runners an opportunity to wear creative costumes on the theme of ‘Ocean Run,’ making it a unique and enjoyable running experience.

“Furthermore, we were glad to invite four local NGOs to join the race and demonstrate the spirit of inclusivity in sports and the power it has to contribute to an inclusive community, while encouraging a healthy lifestyle. We would like to extend our gratitude to the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the General Association of Athletics of Macau in co-hosting the event and making it a success. By collaborating with the Macao SAR government and community sectors, we will continue to add brilliance to our ‘City of Sports’ through large-scale competitions, presenting a healthy and lively image of Macao.”

The 2025 Sands China Macao International 10K brought back the colourful Sands 10K Presents: The FUNkiest Costume Award, where groups of runners used their creativity to dress in this year’s ‘Ocean Run’ contest theme, bringing awareness to the importance of protecting the marine environment and the sustainability of the ocean. At total of 10 groups were crowned winners, with each group awarded a hotel experience package from The Parisian Macao valued at MOP 3,500 each.

In order to engage more people in the exciting atmosphere of the event, Sands China organised an array of complementary activities. This included arranging for a group of 550 to join the race together, consisting of Sands China team members and members of four local social service institutions: Macau Special Olympics, Richmond Fellowship of Macau, Bosco Youth Service Network, and Holy House of Mercy’s Rehabilitation Centre for the Blind. The company also hosted pre-race training sessions for them. The aim was to promote the inclusive concept that “sports know no boundaries,” encourage and support sports development in the community, advocate the healthy habit of regular exercise, and bring together different forces to jointly build a harmonious and inclusive community through practical action – spreading the message of the importance of supporting underprivileged groups to exercise.

Sands China also arranged the Joyful Run with Sands Cares activity again this year, where Sands Cares Ambassadors arranged warm-up sessions on March 1 for Richmond Fellowship of Macau and on March 8 for Macau Special Olympics. The Ambassadors helped familiarise them with the route and ran pre-run warm-up exercises for them. They also shared tips for long-distance running to help them be prepared for race day.

The company also held a friendly warm-up competition for team members, in which around 30 selected runners also took a training course to help them be at their best for the race. This not only gave team members a boost in their training, but helped intensify their fervour leading up to the 10K. One of those team members, Xu Zhonghuang from guest services at The Londoner Macao, performed exceptionally well, achieving fifth place overall in the women’s 10K race and second place in her group (Group C).

For all participants in the 2025 Sands China Macao International 10K, Sands China provided food and beverage discounts to elevate their overall experience, including for select businesses on Rua das Estalagens. In this way, Sands China hopes to offer local SMEs a way to promote their businesses while supporting community revitalisation and the local economy.

Originally inaugurated in 1873 as Bucharest’s most distinguished hotel, it became a pioneer in modern hospitality, being the first in the city to feature electric lights and an elevator. Over the decades, it has hosted royalty, dignitaries, and cultural icons, cementing its place in Romania’s rich history. Now a national monument recognised by the Romanian Ministry of Culture, Corinthia Bucharest is poised to pioneer once more, as it aims to provide elevated service and experiences to Romanians and international visitors, alike.

“It is an honour to welcome our guests to the Corinthia Grand Hotel du Boulevard Bucharest. This hotel is not only a destination but a reflection of the city’s timeless elegance and dynamic spirit. Refined gastronomy & signature experiences

Corinthia Bucharest is home to a trio of extraordinary venues – Sass’ Restaurant & Lounge, Boulevard 73, and Heritage Bar – adding a new dimension to the culinary scene in Romania’s capital.

Boulevard 73 occupies what was formerly the hotel’s grand ballroom, where ornate ceilings and crystal chandeliers provide a majestic backdrop for an immersive culinary experience blending French and Romanian cuisines. Rooted in a farm-to-table philosophy, the restaurant sources the finest seasonal ingredients, crafting a menu that seamlessly blends time-honoured recipes with contemporary innovation.

Sass’ Restaurant & Lounge is an extension of the internationally acclaimed Sass’ Café Monaco, bringing maximalist Mediterranean flair to Bucharest in a chic baroque-style space designed by G&M Design. Guests can savour an exquisite selection of dishes, from the finest Wagyu Beef and indulgent Caviar to a curated array of Mediterranean specialities, each expertly crafted to tantalise the senses. As the evening unfolds, Sass’ transitions seamlessly from dinner to a night hotspot, with resident DJs creating a lively ambiance.

The Heritage Bar stands as a testament to Bucharest’s golden age, offering an elegant afternoon tea service daily, as well as a signature cocktail menu inspired by the city’s history.

A sanctuary of wellness

Corinthia Spa, Bucharest, offers an exclusive sanctuary for restoring balance and vitality. Featuring a peaceful relaxation room, a fully equipped gym, and two private treatment rooms, the spa delivers bespoke treatments, including with the widely loved cult brand, 111SKIN. Design & art

The restoration project was led by QP, with interiors by the acclaimed GA Design, resulting in the masterful marriage of the Belle Époque style and contemporary sophistication. Design and art are seamlessly woven into the fabric of the hotel’s experience. The elegant arrangements from master florist Nicu Bocancea, founder of leading Bucharest floral boutique Iris, create an inviting atmosphere, while the captivating works of British artist and London Art Fair exhibitor Simon Casson – it is worth noting that the artist is not connected to Simon Casson, CEO of Corinthia Hotels, despite sharing the same name – curated by art consultant Minda Dowling, grace the walls with their vibrant expression. Guests are further immersed in the hotel’s ambiance through Elysee, a signature scent by Cristina Balan that infuses the space with its luxurious fragrance.

Curated cultural experiences & exclusive partnerships

Committed to immersing guests in Bucharest’s vibrant culture, the hotel has established partnerships with local artists, performances, and institutions, as well as heli-bear spotting day trips to the nearby Carpathian Mountains, offering exclusive access to the city’s artistic and historical treasures, and beyond with specially curated experiences ensure that every stay is enriched with meaningful encounters and authentic connections.

“Bucharest is a city of contrasts – where history and modernity intertwine, where grandeur meets resilience. As owners, we envisioned Corinthia Grand Hotel du Boulevard as more than just a place to stay; it is a tribute to this city’s rich legacy, a beacon of refined hospitality, and a lasting investment in its future”, commented Christophe Chamboncel, CEO of NIRO Group, “Through thoughtful restoration and timeless elegance, we bring new life to a historic landmark, welcoming guests to experience the warmth, sophistication, and excellence that define both Bucharest and Corinthia. The post SAKA Museum unveils new exhibitions celebrating Balinese culture appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

The SAKA Museum at AYANA Bali is thrilled to announce the launch of three captivating new exhibitions, offering an immersive journey into the heart of Balinese culture. Set to open in early April, after the sacred Nyepi holiday—Bali’s Day of Silence—these exhibitions provide a rare opportunity to experience the island’s rich cultural traditions, its profound relationship with nature, and the deep spirituality that shapes its way of life. The new exhibits include:

  •   Kasanga: Nyepi Exhibition;
  •   Subak: The Ancient Order of Bali;
  •   Heritage Gallery: The Five Elements (Panca Maha Bhuta)

These new additions complement the museum’s already popular exhibitions; Sasi Wimba Haneng Gata Poem, Palelintangan: Balinese Astrology and Ogoh-ogoh: Walking Among Giants, creating a holistic experience of Bali’s rich cultural tapestry. Together, they provide a captivating journey into the island’s rich traditions, beliefs, and spiritual philosophy, with a particular focus on Tri Hita Karana—the Balinese principle of harmony and balance between God, nature, and humanity. The exhibitions also celebrate the works of recognized Balinese artists, highlighting their artistic contributions and the vibrant creativity that defines Bali’s cultural identity.

A Journey into Bali’s Cultural Heritage
The three exhibitions are thoughtfully designed to weave together the diverse aspects of Balinese life. Heritage Gallery: The Five Elements explores the ancient spiritual teachings of the island’s five core elements, while Subak: The Ancient Order of Bali delves into Bali’s unique agricultural system and its UNESCO-listed water temple network. The Kasanga: Nyepi Exhibition offers visitors an immersive experience of the island’s most revered day of silence, showcasing numerous artworks related to the different stages of the Nyepi celebrations. “Through these exhibitions, visitors will gain a deeper appreciation of the role these practices play in daily Balinese life—how they guide spiritual observances, the rhythms of the island, and the collective consciousness of the Balinese people,” said Marlowe Bandem, Executive Advisor of SAKA Museum.

The SAKA Museum first opened its doors last year to the public and quickly became a beloved cultural destination, earning praise for its original exhibits that provide visitors with a vivid insight into Bali’s artistic and spiritual heritage. The newly launched exhibitions complement the already popular exhibits, which have been highly rated by visitors on platforms such as TripAdvisor and Google reviews. These exhibits continue to draw attention for their ability to immerse guests in Bali’s captivating culture.

A Cultural Hub for All
Beyond its exhibitions, the SAKA Museum is committed to becoming a vibrant cultural platform, connecting locals and international visitors to Bali’s heritage. To foster a deeper understanding of the island’s traditions, the museum offers complimentary educational visits to schools, university students, researchers, and anyone with an educational purpose.

“We want SAKA Museum to be a place of connection, where people from all walks of life can come together to celebrate and learn about Bali’s traditions,” said Dr Judith Bosnak, Director of SAKA Museum. “By collaborating with local schools, we’re helping ensure that future generations of Balinese are not only educated about their heritage but also inspired to carry it forward.”

AirAsia expects to launch over 30 new routes in 2025, boosting regional and Fly-Thru connectivity

The post AirAsia expects to launch over 30 new routes in 2025, boosting regional and Fly-Thru connectivity appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

AirAsia Aviation Group is set to introduce more than 30 new routes as it achieves full recovery in 2025 strengthening Asean and domestic connectivity, reinforcing its position as the region’s leading low-cost airline.

As the proposed acquisition of AirAsia by AirAsia X Berhad from Capital A Berhad nears completion, the consolidation of both short- and medium-haul airlines into an enlarged aviation group will further enhance the airline’s position in the industry, strengthening its network and operational synergies.

As the foundations are laid for the future, in 2025, AirAsia will be focused on enhancing cost leadership, optimising network and flight frequencies, and improving operational performance across key markets including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia. These efforts aim to support growth in high-demand destinations such as India, China, and throughout Asean.

The network optimisation is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2025, with frequency increases across high-demand routes beginning in the same period. In parallel, the group is evaluating new routes to meet growing intra-Asia travel demand driven by easing visa initiatives across key markets including China, India, Thailand and Malaysia, aligned with evolving travel trends.

Most recently, AirAsia Malaysia announced its new route into Australia, with four weekly flights to Darwin beginning 27 June 2025, making it the first airline in the region to offer direct connectivity between Kuala Lumpur and Darwin. AirAsia Indonesia also celebrated its inaugural flight from Bali to Darwin on 22 March 2025 further strengthening the Northern Territory’s connection with Asean.

Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group said: “In 2025, as we return to full capacity, we’ll be balancing growth with profitability. Our network strategy will prioritise strategic, demand-driven connectivity across Asia. With over 30 new routes and increased frequencies on our most popular services, we are responding directly to market demand and Fly-Thru opportunities. Our Fly-Thru traffic grew to 4.3 million in 2024, and we are targeting over seven million Fly-Thru guests this year, accounting for approximately 10% of total passengers. This growth supported by the reactivation of 16 aircraft and the delivery of 14 new aircraft in 2025 will form the backbone of our sustainable expansion plans.

“Our mega hubs in Kuala Lumpur (KUL) and Bangkok-Don Mueang (DMK) will continue to anchor Fly-Thru growth, currently handling 95% of Fly-Thru traffic. At the same time, we will expand other hubs and look forward to adding over 1,700 weekly return flights and 323,336 weekly seats across the Group by the end of 2025.”

This year, the airline expects to operate a fleet of 234 narrowbody aircraft across the airline’s five short-haul airlines, restoring full pre-pandemic capacity. Only 16 aircraft remain to be reactivated, while 14 new aircraft deliveries have been confirmed for 2025, four from Airbus and 10 via lessors.

AirAsia’s commitment to building mega hubs and expanding Fly-Thru services supports its vision of becoming a global low-cost network carrier connecting Asean to the world and the world to Asean.
