Khiri Travel enters ‘The Long Run’

The post Khiri Travel enters ‘The Long Run’ appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

Khiri Travel has joined The Long Run, a global community of purpose-driven tourism businesses which aims to implement positive change around the world.
The Long Run, which has 73 members, mostly ecolodges, tourism experiences and destinations on six continents, was founded in 2009. Its ambitions and projects are based on the four Cs: conservation, community, culture, and commerce.

Khiri Travel, a 32 year old destination management company, has built an international reputation based on innovation and sustainable tourism discoveries. It has 17 offices in eight countries in Southeast Asia.

Protecting biodiverse landscapes
Khiri Travel will now work closely with The Long Run members who, together, each year protect 23 million acres (9.3 million ha) of biodiverse landscapes, support 130,000 people through employment, education and training, and spend over US$13 million on conservation, community and culture projects.

“We are pleased to join The Long Run, not least because their diverse members are highly inspirational,” said Willem Niemeijer, founder and CEO of Khiri Travel. “Yes there is technical support and best practice exchange, but more than that, The Long Run members work together, listen, learn and collaborate to elevate sustainability standards for all. There is real enthusiasm and inspiration in everything they do.”

Khiri Reach, Khiri Travel’s charitable arm, is now implementing the 4Cs concept by advancing conservation and community projects such as seagrass planting in Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka and supplying boats to help children safely cross the Kambaniru River to and from school in Sumba island, Indonesia.

Willem Niemeijer of Khiri Travel and Dr Anne-Kathrin Zschiegner of The Long Run.

Regenerative travel
Khiri Reach, which has pioneered and supported dozens of community and conservation initiatives in Southeast Asia since its foundation in 2007, will add more regenerative travel projects this year, inspired by The Long Run’s ‘4C’ agenda.

The idea of regenerative travel is to actively improve ecosystems, communities and economies that are engaged with tourism.

“Around the world, The Long Run members have the authority and hard-earned experience to speak out on regenerative travel,” said Dr Anne-Kathrin Zschiegner, Executive Director of The Long Run. “That’s why we welcome Khiri Travel. They bring both a passion for responsible travel but also over 30 years’ of experience. We look forward to working with Khiri to achieve great things on behalf of local communities.”

Both Khiri Travel and The Long Run will be active at ITB Berlin 4-6 March. “We aim to lead our corner of the travel industry with clarity, vision and conviction,” says Dr Zschiegner. “Working together with our members, we aim to move the needle politically on matters pertaining to responsible and regenerative travel.”

Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Emirates Airline said: “When we began our relationship with UAE Team Emirates XRG, we knew the tremendously popular sport would be a powerful vehicle to bring Emirates closer to cycling fans around the world. It has achieved that and more. The team has raised the profile of cycling in the UAE and built a dedicated nation-wide community of avid cyclists. The UAE has also risen in the ranks to become a premier cycling powerhouse on the UCI World Tour. We are experiencing a very special period for the team and for cycling in the UAE and we hope for many more years of success together and many more victories.”

The relationship between Emirates and UAE Team Emirates XRG began in 2017, when it became the UAE’s first and only professional cycling team competing in the UCI World Tour. For the airline, it was its first foray in international cycling, and its support over the course of the last eight years has helped bring the UAE to the world stage of the sport, cementing its position as one of top nations to compete around the globe.

Since then, UAE Team Emirates XRG has become one of the top teams on the professional peloton. UAE Team Emirates XRG has over 250 international wins to its name, including three Tour de France titles, a Giro d’Italia victory, and a UCI World Championship gold medal. Along with naming rights and the Emirates logo on team kits, the brand will also continue to appear on team vehicles, provide hospitality experiences for customers, rider access, exclusive promotional opportunities and money can’t buy experiences, in addition to visibility on the team’s digital and social media channels.

Over the years, the airline and the team have also partnered together on several community initiatives that promote health and well-being, including rides across different Dubai landmarks during the Dubai Fitness Challenge, Emirates Group employee engagement initiatives, among other activities.

Skytrans goes for Maxamation Aviator Revenue Management System

The post Skytrans goes for Maxamation Aviator Revenue Management System appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

Australian regional carrier Skytrans recently opted for Maxamation, specifically its Aviator Revenue Management System.

Skytrans went with these in order to maintain profits by creating the maximum passenger revenue on every flight.

By doing so, Skytrans will be more than able to meet the challenges of a constantly evolving and increasingly competitive marketplace.

How does it work?

Aviator links directly with the airline’s flight inventory system, ameliaRES.

This, in turn, enables the Skytrans team to manage flight prices and availability with accuracy and efficiency.

An excellent partnership

Skytrans revenue and network manager Paul Williams said of the revenue management solution: “Before Aviator I was manually calculating the inventory for over a hundred flights a week. Now we can assess demand rapidly and respond appropriately. The forecasting methodology allows us to

review capacity. This assists in strategic decision making and resource planning. We look forward to further developing our relationship in the years ahead.’

For his part, Maxamation chief executive Peter Brewer commented: “Paul Williams and Bronte Shaw are a pleasure for us to partner with. Paul and Bronte have deep airline experience and knew just what they wanted from Aviator. Having Paul and Bronte in Sydney for the training was an extra bonus and allowed our support team to get to know them personally. We look forward to working with them in the years ahead.”
