JAMPA’s closed-loop system ensures minimal waste, with vegetable scraps feeding chickens that supply fresh eggs, and compost used as fertilizer, promoting pesticide-free farming and reducing CO2 emissions.

Additionally, PRU, a restaurant that garnered one Michelin star, stands at the forefront of sustainable dining in Thailand, further enhancing the resort’s commitment to eco-friendly practices.

“This project is particularly special as it offers a harmonious blend of nature and cutting-edge  design. OMNIYAT will  continue to curate unique experiences, creatively collaborating with some of the world’s most  visionary minds, to surpass the traditional definition of well-living.”

Christopher Cowdray, President of Dorchester Collection, commented: “The Alba is our next  luxury chapter in Dubai in partnership with OMNIYAT. Each space will be a sanctuary within an  exclusive enclave that will offer residents and guests both privacy and serenity in this dynamic  city. This next-level lifestyle and hospitality experience will be combined with the impeccable  service of Dorchester Collection; the foundation of our culture is the care we have for our guests  and people, which has been celebrated globally. The Alba Residences’ interiors offer bold, bright, and expansive spaces with floor-to-ceiling  heights of over three metres. Ranging from two-bedroom furnished and three-bedroom  unfurnished units to three or four-bedroom simplex and duplex units, as well as capacious  penthouses, the residences are designed to cater to the tailored needs of every individual.

OMNIYAT has collaborated with global leaders in interior design to create three distinct design  packages, ensuring that each buyer can choose a design that best suits their lifestyle and taste.

In addition to The Alba’s own amenities, which include pools with private cabanas, sun loungers,  and social gathering and entertainment areas, residents can also enjoy those of the hotel,  including infinity pools, vitality pools, a fitness suite, beach areas and a branded spa with opulent  treatment rooms. Destined to be one of the grandest and most luxurious in Dubai, the wellness  centre will be operated by a renowned global brand partner set to be announced next year.

The landscaping, meticulously crafted by international award-winning landscape architect  Vladimir Djurovic, brings a fine balance of serenity and beauty, integrating the natural world with  the architectural splendour and inspired lifestyle of the Residences. The organic, arced shapes of  the buildings emerge from a tropical forest and gardens enriched with cascading waterfalls and lily ponds that encompass and accentuate the architecture, fashioning shaded paths and  walkways that wind right down to the waterfront.

This design not only enhances the architectural splendour of The Alba, but also highlights  OMNIYAT’s commitment to creating a sustainable environment, aiming to meet the highest level  of WELL CertificationTM from the WELL Building Standard®. The verdant environment not only  amplifies the visual splendour of the residences, but aligns with the developer’s goal of infusing  luxury with ecological responsibility.

Paul Gauguin Cruises Wins 2024 Sustainability Award for Healthcare Program

The post Paul Gauguin Cruises Wins 2024 Sustainability Award for Healthcare Program appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

The Seatrade Cruise Awards recognised an exceptional healthcare initiative between Paul Gauguin Cruises and the government of French Polynesia. This collaboration, known as the “Taote Gauguin” medical partnership— ‘taote’ meaning doctor in Tahitian—was honoured as the 2024 Sustainability Initiative of the Year.

Launched in October 2023, the Taote Gauguin program provides essential healthcare assistance to some of the most remote islands in French Polynesia. As the m/s Paul Gauguin regularly visits these islands, the ship’s medical staff supports local doctors by addressing emergency or acute cases. The program also grants access to the ship’s medical equipment when needed, significantly reducing the need for medical evacuations from these isolated areas. To date, more than 90 patients have benefited from this initiative.

Hervé Gastinel, CEO & Chief Sustainability Officer of PONANT, the parent company of Paul Gauguin Cruises, expressed his gratitude: “We are thrilled that this important healthcare initiative has received this recognition and are honoured to continue to support the work of local doctors as they provide medical care to the people of the islands, we call home. These wonderful communities have welcomed Paul Gauguin Cruises into their lives for 26 years, sharing their rich cultures, traditions, and natural wonders with our guests, and it is our privilege to give back and continue supporting those who live here.”

The Seatrade Cruise Awards program is renowned for recognising the best in the cruise industry and setting new standards for innovation, creativity, and technology. Mary Bond, Seatrade Cruise Portfolio Director, highlighted the significance of the Taote Gauguin program: “The work Paul Gauguin Cruises is doing in support of local communities in French Polynesia is a great example of cruising’s social sustainability focus in giving back to the communities its ships visit and deserves recognition.”

In addition to this accolade, sister brand PONANT won the Most Innovative Shore Excursion of the Year award for a new shore excursion in East Greenland aboard Le Commandant Charcot, the world’s only luxury icebreaker. This adventure takes guests deep into the local Inuit communities of Tasiilaq, Ittoqqortoormiit, and Sermersooq, the largest and northernmost in East Greenland. Trapped in pack ice for most of the year, these territories remain largely inaccessible and virtually unvisited during winter and spring.

In line with PONANT’s sustainability goals, the excursion was designed in close cooperation with local communities, emphasising a spirit of community engagement. This approach not only respects the fragile Arctic ecosystem but also supports the cultural heritage and economic well-being of the Inuit. PONANT has employed Inuits from Tasiilaq as part of the Expedition team for the season, bringing the destination on board and enabling them to share their daily lives and unique perspectives with guests.

The winners of the Seatrade Cruise Awards were determined by an independent panel of leading voices from consultants, professors, editors, and operations executives across the international cruise community.

This recognition underscores the importance of sustainable and socially responsible practices in the cruise industry, highlighting the positive impact that thoughtful initiatives can have on local communities and the environment.

ATIA scores win in federal inquiry on tourism and international education

The post ATIA scores win in federal inquiry on tourism and international education appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

The Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) announced a positive advocacy development with regard to the Federal Parliament’s inquiry report into Australia’s tourism and international education sectors.

The report titled Are we there yet?’: From recovery to resilience – opportunities and challenges for Australia’s tourism sector incorporated many of ATIA’s key recommendations.

The report outlines 28 recommendations aimed at strengthening the tourism sector and enhancing its resilience to future challenges.

That said, it reflects the Association’s submission and evidence provided by ATIA CEO Dean Long, who appeared before the inquiry to press for change.

ATIA’s acting chief executive Ingrid Fraser lauded this, saying “This report is a win for the travel sector and a reflection of ATIA’s leadership in advocating for the industry. We are thrilled to see our key recommendations for increasing air travel capacity included in the report. These policies are essential to supporting Australia’s global competitiveness and the continued growth of our travel and tourism sectors.”

Focussing on the things that matter

ATIA is pleased to see a focus on increasing the competitiveness, accessibility and sustainability of air travel, and the pursuit of further “open skies” agreements to enhance international air travel, consistent with Australia’s national interests. Increased air-travel capacity on international routes will provide Australian consumers with more options and competitive pricing.

Another important recommendation is the call for the Australian Government to engage with New Zealand and other neighbouring countries to develop joint visa offerings and other initiatives designed to encourage multi-country tourism. Such policies will remove barriers to travel and help enhance the region’s attractiveness to international tourists.
