Chinese arrivals to Cambodia up 48.2 percent

A new report shows that Chinese nationals made up 690,000 of the 3.71 foreign tourists who made their way to Cambodia in the first seven months of 2025.

According to Cambodian tourism minister Huot Hak, the number of Chinese tourists coming to the country was up by 48.2 percent as of end-July, contributing significantly to the national economy.

According to Hak: “The tourism sector has contributed significantly to socio-economic development, especially the large influx of Chinese tourists to Cambodia before the Covid-19 crisis, which amounted to 2.4 million in 2019.”

The numbers are in

Cambodia welcomed 6.7 million international tourists in 2024, reflecting a 22.9 percent increase from 2023 and a 1.4 percent rise above pre-pandemic levels in 2019.

Of these, 850,000 were Chinese, their numbers up by 55 percent from the previous year.

Moving forward, Hak hopes that the designation of 2025 as Cambodia-China Tourism Year will continue to drive the surge in Chinese tourists visiting Cambodia, as well as boost investment into the tourism sector whilst fostering cultural and economic exchanges between the two nations.

Given current figures, the Cambodia Tourism Board (CTB) is now working to attract more international tourists, such as those from China, throughout the year.

The goal is a five percent increase during the busy high season, and a significant 10 percent to 20 percent rise during the quieter green season.

According to CTB chief executive Kim Minea: “We want to see tourists come to Cambodia, regardless of whether it’s high season or not. Also, we have seen that Chinese people are more likely to come when our country feels less crowded.”

Floriade, Australiaâ€Â™s Biggest Celebration of Spring, returns annually to Commonwealth Park on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. It features extensive displays of flowering bulbs with integrated sculptures and other artistic features.

As spring unfurls its colours across Australia, there’s one city that blossoms into a breathtaking floral paradise, the nation’s capital. Returning for its 38th year from 12 September to 13 October, Floriade, Australia’s biggest celebration of Spring, transforms Canberra’s beautiful Commonwealth Park into a vibrant canvas of more than one million blooms. For those exploring Australia between September and October, this annual festival deserves a top spot on the bucket list. It invites travellers to slow down and immerse themselves in a month-long celebration where art, nature, and community spirit meet. This year’s theme, Science and Nature, encourages visitors to swap gardening gloves for lab coats with hands-on workshops, talks, and interactive exhibits, designed to ignite curiosity.

Beyond the beautiful blooms, Floriade offers a wide range of activities that make it one of Canberra’s most cherished springtime experiences. Set against the backdrop of the city’s thoughtful urban design and unhurried pace, Floriade is the perfect destination for multi-generational families. While younger visitors can dive into Floriade’s interactive exhibits, older family members can wander through garden beds bursting with blooms, enjoy live music performances, or be captivated by the street entertainers. They can also browse market stalls, meet local food and wine producers, and savour local delicacies. From day to night, the festival brims with experiences, so here’s a glimpse of what awaits:

  • Witness the park come alive after dark with NightFest (2-5 October), a special ticketed event. Beyond the breathtaking illuminated displays, the evening offers a unique program of entertainment – live music from Australian artists like Josh Pyke and Ella Hooper, exhilarating fire and circus performances, and a creative lantern workshop that culminates in a parade through the glowing park.
  • Embark on a culinary adventure through Commonwealth Park, starting with locally brewed cold beers at the BentSpoke Brewing Beer Garden and bespoke cocktails at the Underground Spirits Gin Garden. Savour the flavours of the region with wine tastings and gourmet picnics at the Contentious Character Urban Winery or indulge in an array of unique food stalls and sweet treats.
  • Adding an international flair, Floriade will host Windows to the World on 11 October with select embassies presenting pop-up displays. This event gives visitors a chance to travel the world through traditional performances, authentic cuisine, and cultural exhibits.

Floriade, Australia as a  Biggest Celebration of Spring, returns annually to Commonwealth Park on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. It features extensive displays of flowering bulbs with integrated sculptures and other artistic features.

With Indian travellers increasingly seeking immersive local experiences, Floriade is a vibrant reason to explore beyond the usual tourist circuit. For those in Sydney, the capital is just a three-hour scenic drive that unfolds through the picturesque Southern Highlands, presenting a perfect opportunity to pause along the way. Travellers can make a day of it by stopping in the charming town of Bowral, where cricket fans can visit the Bradman Museum, a must for any cricket enthusiast.

And while Floriade may be the main drawcard, it’s also the perfect reason to explore Canberra. Beyond the festival, visitors can unwind in the tranquil landscapes and discover the city’s other iconic attractions – such as Australian Parliament House, find a peaceful moment of reflection at the National Arboretum, or immerse in arts and culture at the National Gallery of Australia. With its unique blend of nature, art, and a thriving food scene, Canberra offers a mindful and immersive cultural experience.

Brazilian Govt recognizes Rio de Janeiro Carnival as a Manifestation of National Culture

The post Brazilian Govt recognizes Rio de Janeiro Carnival as a Manifestation of National Culture  appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

The grandiose Rio de Janeiro Carnival is now recognised as a Manifestation of National Culture by law

Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed two important bills into law for the Brazilian Carnival: Bill 1730/2024, which recognises Rio de Janeiro Carnival as a Manifestation of National Culture, and Bill 4187/2024, which establishes National Axé Music Day, to be celebrated annually on 17th February.

At the meeting, which brought together several authorities, Embratur’s President Marcelo Freixo emphasised that cultural, sporting, and musical events are also important tourist attractions, contributing to the dynamism of the economy and generating development for the country.

“With these sanctions, President Lula reinforces the appreciation of these important national heritages: Carnival and Axé Music. Last year, Brazil had the largest Carnival in history, with the participation of nearly 300,000 international tourists. We are surpassing all industry benchmarks in foreign tourist arrivals and, as a result, promoting the generation of ever more jobs and income through this activity. This is a movement that benefits the entire country”, he celebrated.

Tourism Minister Celso Sabino commented about the importance of Carnival in promoting Brazil as a tourist destination. “President Lula instructed us in tourism, Marcelo Freixo and myself, to transform tourism in Brazil so that it could also be a major driver of economic development. And so it has been. Never before has so much been invested in cultural, artistic, and music events throughout the country, as we are now doing from north to south”, he said.

The Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes, also attended the ceremony and stated that the laws are very important because Carnival is a window that showcases the full power of Brazil. “It’s a manifestation of the Brazilian people. Every Brazilian city has this celebration. Brazil is one of the countries recognised as having the most influential cultures in the world. During Carnival, the number of tourists to Brazil increases even more. We’re talking about a success story. Brazilian Carnival is an example of success both domestically and internationally, and most importantly it’s a time when thousands and thousands of people have the opportunity to improve their living conditions”, she commented.

Bill 1730/2024

Bill 1730/2024, now approved as Law 15.188, was written by Federal MP Laura Carneiro (PSD-RJ) and seeks to value and protect the historical, social, and cultural importance of one of the most emblematic popular festivals in Brazil and the world, the Rio de Janeiro Carnival, which also holds the title of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

“I wanted to say that Carnival isn’t just that wonderful spectacle. Carnival is a cycle of the creative economy that runs year-round. And that’s the importance of this bill”, said Laura Carneiro.

Bill 4187/2024

Bill 4187/2024, now approved as Law 15.189, establishes National Axé Music Day, to be celebrated annually on February 17th. The proposal was written by Federal MP Lídice da Mata (PSB-BA) and seeks to recognise and value the cultural importance and influence of the musical genre that has become a symbol of Bahia and Brazil.

“Doing this alongside Carnival in Rio de Janeiro is an honour for us. Having people out on the streets listening to all kinds of music is, above all, a moment when the city becomes part of an infinite production chain. It’s a creative economy in its veins,” explained Lídice da Mata.

StarCruises revolutionises onboard entertainment with Cycling at Sea

The post StarCruises revolutionises onboard entertainment with Cycling at Sea appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

StarCruises recently teamed up with Flying Pigeon Bicycle and Shanhang Haisu to unveil a first-of-its-kind entertainment experience: one where participants get to cycle at sea.

Navigate Mountains and Seas: Embark  on a Cycling Journey, an experience available aboard the Star Voyager, is the world’s first intelligent cycling race at sea.

This one-of-a-kind attraction was successfully launched aboard the Star Voyager during her five-night Naha and Ishigaki voyage from 17th to 22nd  August which sailed from Hong Kong.

By blending immersive fitness with ocean travel, the event redefined traditional cruising, essentially transforming it into an interactive sporting adventure and offering guests a thrilling new way  to engage with their voyage.

StarDream Cruises president Michael Goh said of the revolutionary offering: “We are thrilled to pioneer the first intelligent cycling race at sea, blending cutting-edge  technology with immersive fitness experiences. This initiative reflects our commitment to innovation, the integration of leading  Chinese brands into our onboard offerings and delivering unforgettable moments for our guests.  We’re proud to bring this collaboration to the international stage as we continue to redefine what  a cruise vacation can be.”

Tianjin Flying Pigeon Co general manager Yuan Bo added: “I believe that this strong partnership with StarCruises marks the beginning of a new journey in  the global market.”

Ushering in the evolution of cruise entertainment

Cycling on a cruise ship is more than a novelty: it’s an immersive full-body experience.

Riders tackled simulated terrains with determination, while spectators cheered from the sidelines.

The inaugural Cycle at Sea event featured three state-of-the-art smart cycling platforms that simulated nine  realistic road scenarios ranging from steep hills and sharp curves to rugged mountain paths.

Guests  of all ages joined the challenge, forming teams with family and friends and racing through virtual  landscapes as cheers echoed across the ship.

As one of the Star Voyager’s key homeports, Hong Kong plays a central role in this initiative.

Guests embark at the conveniently located Ocean Terminal, making the experience accessible  and seamless.

Celebrated as a cycling-friendly city from the New Territories Greenway to  the coastal trails of its outlying islands, Hong Kong provides a culturally rich and naturally  inspiring backdrop for this sea-based cycling debut.

By bringing cycling culture onboard, StarCruises pays tribute to the city’s vibrant outdoor lifestyle while pushing the boundaries of  cruise entertainment innovation.

That said, the  event fostered a spirit of community, fun and fitness that redefined what active cruising ought to be.

Likewise, this pioneering initiative marks a new chapter in how cultural brands connect with cruise travelers.

In collaboration with the legendary Flying Pigeon Bicycle, StarCruises has introduced an experience – interaction – sales model that blends onboard entertainment with cultural storytelling and  commercial engagement.

Building on this success, StarCruises is setting a new benchmark for interactive and culturally  resonant cruise experiences.

Also, this milestone is just the beginning: more strategic  partnerships, localized programming and immersive guest offerings are currently in  development to ensure every voyage delivers something truly extraordinary.

Located just 40 minutes from Chiang Rai International Airport, this serene, boutique hideaway features 10 spacious safari-style tents – from two-bedroom family options to a romantic one-bedroom suite – each with private bathrooms, handcrafted teak furniture, modern comforts, and sweeping valley views. Guests can enjoy a curated programme of meaningful experiences, from trekking and cooking classes to tree-planting programmes and meditation sessions, all designed to connect them deeply with the local culture and environment.

Set to become a living showcase of Dusit’s group-wide Tree of Life programme, which integrates environmental stewardship, community engagement, and social impact across 31 criteria linked to selected UN Sustainable Development Goals, Tantawan Tented Camp is uniquely positioned to promote responsible tourism with measurable benefits for both local communities and the environment.

A cornerstone of this commitment is the resort’s close affiliation with Sunflower Organic Farm, a residential home for girls run by Friends of Thai Daughters, a non-profit that provides education, safe shelter, and emotional support to ethnic minority hill tribe girls at risk of trafficking. Dusit plans to further support the girls with training programmes and workshops conducted by institutions under Dusit Hospitality Education, namely Dusit Thani College and The Food School, as well as structured work experience at Tantawan Tented Camp and other Dusit properties, creating clear pathways for future careers in hospitality.

Guests are also invited to tour the farm, which supplies the camp with fresh produce, fragrant herbs, and free-range eggs. At the camp’s al fresco Reu Doo Gaan restaurant, northern Thai dishes and international favourites are prepared with these and other locally sourced ingredients, giving visitors a true taste of the region while supporting environmentally responsible practices.

“Managing Tantawan Tented Camp gives us a fantastic opportunity to bring the Tree of Life vision to life beyond our branded properties and showcase our commitment to having a positive impact wherever we operate,” said Gilles Cretallaz, Chief Operating Officer, Dusit International. “From sourcing food directly from the farm to providing education and training for girls and young women, this property shows how sustainability and hospitality can work hand in hand. With work experience opportunities through our educational arm, we can create transformative pathways for the next generation while offering guests an unforgettable and meaningful experience.”

Tantawan Tented Camp also offers a variety of facilities to enhance each stay, including a central swimming pool framed by tall palms and wildflowers with stunning mountain views, and an outdoor amphitheatre for movie nights under the stars, complete with a cosy bonfire. Guests seeking adventure can try archery, visit nearby hill tribes and an elephant sanctuary, or book a private ‘forest and field picnic’ featuring artisanal breads, seasonal salads, gourmet cheeses, and house-made delicacies. Guests are also welcome to play pickleball at Sunflower Farm’s two covered and lighted courts.

Families will appreciate a variety of creative activities, from pottery and glass painting to ‘Tung’ making – the creation of colourful banners once used by Lanna villagers to bless homes, temples, and festivals. Participants can learn the spiritual meanings behind each design, symbolising values such as good fortune, protection, and prosperity.

Tantawan Tented Camp joins a growing portfolio of distinctive independent properties managed by Dusit in Thailand, including Seapine Beach Golf and Resort, Hua Hin; Green Lake Resort, Chiang Mai; and Chainarai Riverside, Chiang Rai – each benefiting from Dusit’s service standards and operational expertise while retaining their own unique identity.

FlyUSA, a premier on-demand jet charter and private aviation solutions provider, ranks #419 on the 2025 Inc. 5000 list, its annual list of the fastest-growing privately held companies in the United States. Of the 5,000 companies, FlyUSA is also the 51st fastest growing in Florida and 10th fastest in the Travel and Hospitality Industry. For the second year in a row, FlyUSA is the fastest-growing private jet company on the list. These accolades underscore FlyUSA’s unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation and customer satisfaction.

This recognition comes alongside another significant achievement: securing the #4 spot on the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Fast 50 list, which ranks the 50 fastest-growing companies in the Tampa Bay region.

“We are honored to be recognized both nationally and regionally for our growth, which is a result of our laser focus on client experience,” said Barry Shevlin, Co-Founder and CEO of FlyUSA. “Our employees, clients, owners and business partners all contribute to our success. Both recognitions highlight companies that have successfully navigated the current challenges of an uncertain economy.

FlyUSA anticipates revenue to be $75 million to $80 million in 2025, reflecting a doubling of year-over-year revenue. To support this momentum and meet rising client demand, the company has expanded its staff to a total of 110 employees nationwide.

Since its inception in 2020, the company has expanded its services to include global private flight charters, aircraft acquisitions and management, co-ownership opportunities, the Ascend Club membership program, and the Freedom Jet Card program. The FlyUSA managed fleet has grown to 30 aircraft, with a focus on Pilatus PC-12 turboprops, Cessna Citation light and mid-size jets, and the larger Dassault Falcon Jets for transcontinental and trans-Atlantic travel.

Looking ahead to the future, FlyUSA is leveraging its asset-light model to drive innovation through technology. The company is set to launch a new mobile app designed to streamline and personalize the private flight booking experience. Informed by deep consumer insights, this digital platform will redefine how modern travelers discover, book and manage private air travel — delivering convenience, transparency and control at their fingertips.
