Archipelago recognised for its efforts to protect children in the tourism sector

The post Archipelago recognised for its efforts to protect children in the tourism sector appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

Indonesian hospitality management company Archipelago was recently recognised as a Top Member of The Code 2025.

This prestigious recognition, awarded by The Code, acknowledges Archipelago’s consistent commitment to protecting children within the tourism industry through concrete and ongoing actions.

The Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism, commonly referred to as The Code, is a global initiative spearheaded by ECPAT. It aims to encourage greater awareness and responsibility within the tourism industry to prevent the sexual exploitation of children actively.

Archipelago chief executive John Flood said of the citation: “This recognition is a testament to the ongoing efforts of our entire hotel group in upholding child protection standards. Across all our properties, we remain committed to creating safe, welcoming environments and staying alert to the risks of child trafficking. It’s a shared responsibility we take seriously, as part of our wider mission to protect and care for children.”

Archipelago’s senior vice-president for operations Winston Hanes likewise remarked: “We are committed to ensuring that all procedures are consistently implemented by our teams and partners across all Archipelago properties. Our contribution is essential to creating safer spaces for both children and guests.”

Where children come first

Archipelago believes that responsible tourism must prioritize safety and accountability, especially when it comes to children.

In line with this commitment, the company has taken several real and measurable actions:

Relevant training for all employees

All Archipelago staff receive specialized training in preventing child trafficking and exploitation, based on standards outlined by The Code. This training is mandatory for new employees during onboarding and is repeated annually as a refresher to maintain awareness and vigilance.

Internal awareness and communication

Child protection messages are regularly communicated in the workplace through posters and educational materials placed in staff areas. These values are also embedded within internal work guidelines to ensure continuous reinforcement among all team members.

Adherence to strict standards for both partners and suppliers

Archipelago ensures that all partners and suppliers uphold the same principles. All partnership agreements include a clear clause outlining a zero-tolerance policy for any form of child sexual exploitation. As part of this commitment, the company has also made related information publicly available through its official channels, including the Archipelago website.

Strengthening internal policies and risk management protocols

Archipelago actively monitors and manages potential risks that may endanger children. If a suspected violation arises, the company has clear procedures in place to handle the case following the laws of the hotel’s operating country as well as the company’s home country.

Leading the way

By being selected as a Top Member of The Code for 2025, Archipelago not only receives international recognition for its dedication but also strengthens its position as an industry leader that prioritizes human dignity alongside business growth.

The company believes that responsible tourism begins with awareness and action, both at the individual and organizational levels.

This achievement reflects the hard work and collective commitment of all elements within Archipelago, from corporate management to frontline hotel staff across its network.

Tourism New Zealand reports NZ$78.8M in conference bookings

The post Tourism New Zealand reports NZ$78.8M in conference bookings appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

Tourism New Zealand confirmed 64 international conference wins in the past year, worth an estimated NZ$78.8 million to New Zealand’s visitor economy.

The Tourism New Zealand Business Events team closed out its 2025 financial year hitting record bid targets enabled by a NZ$3 million government funding boost announced in March 2025.

It exceeded its stretch target of 110 bids worth NZ$170 million, making 112 bids worth $173 million.

The national tourism organisation had previously set a target of 90 bids with a value of $140 million for the 2025 financial year.

In addition to the bid numbers lodged in FY25 there were also 100 resulted bids, with 64 wins and 36 losses.

The 64 wins have an estimated direct economic impact of $78.8 million.

The benefits of a thriving MICE sector

Tourism New Zealand global manager for business events Penelope Ryan said: “What that economic impact figure doesn’t capture is the other benefits hosting these events deliver to New Zealand, from research collaborations to investment opportunities, job creation, profile for New Zealand universities, and knowledge sharing to find solutions to global challenges.”

Wins secured in the last year include the WONCA World Rural Health Conference in 2026; Asia-Pacific Intelligent Transport Systems Forum 2027; World Indigenous Cancer Conference 2026; and International Precision Dairy Farming Conference 2025.

Ryan added: “We continue to accelerate momentum thanks to the Government’s additional NZ$3 million in funding for the 2026 financial year. We’re holding the 110-bid stretch target but aiming to increase the value to NZ$185 million in FY26. We have conference bids in process for 2026 and beyond, with wins confirmed as far ahead as 2030, highlighting the vital role business events activity plays in growing the New Zealand economy now and into the future.”

Securing wins

New Zealand has already secured nine conference wins in the first month of the new financial year.

Conference pipelines continue to grow across New Zealand’s three new key city convention centres: Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, Tākina Wellington Convention & Exhibition Centre, and the New Zealand International Convention Centre, opening in Auckland in February 2026.

But Ryan notes a number of the resulted wins in the first month of this financial year were in the smaller regions, including Dunedin, Hamilton, and the Bay of Islands, where strong knowledge hubs and unique experiential learning opportunities were securing conferences.

She remarked: “People often think of conferences as things that happen solely within the four walls of a convention centre. The magic of events in New Zealand comes with our combination of world-class venues plus the unparalleled opportunities for real world experiences and learning to bring the conference to life, surrounded by our unique manaakitanga, our welcome and care for visitors.”

Indeed, the combination puts New Zealand in a good position to target higher value and larger scale conferences, enabling the country to build on the value that business events deliver to it and its people.

The luxurious Orient Express Corinthian fuses absolute comfort, legendary service, one-of-a-kind itineraries, unforgettable experiences and cutting-edge technology for responsible navigation, redefining the art of cruising.

From October through March, Orient Express Corinthian will offer two to nine-night escapes, charting a course through turquoise lagoons, white-sand archipelagos, crystalline bays, kaleidoscopic coral reefs, secret coves and hidden inlets.

From Saint-Barth’s chic shores to Moskito Island’s secluded sands, and from the emerald Exumas to the coral kingdoms of the Tobago Cays, each destination has its own story.

Yet the true enchantment lies in the journey, sailing under ever-steady trade winds as tropical vistas slowly unfold.

Each event is curated to transcend expectation: luminous discoveries along spectacular island landscapes; an epicurean homage to local gastronomy; and guided incursions into pristine natural sanctuaries.

The journey is best described as a collection of moments poised between reverie and reality.

A journey for the senses

Aboard, Orient Express Corinthian reinterprets the elegance of French craftsmanship for a new era of maritime luxury, inspired by the legacy of Orient Express.

Architect Maxime d’Angeac, Artistic Director of Orient Express, has conceived refined interiors that reinterpret the golden age of rail travel with a contemporary sensibility, echoing the grandeur of legendary ocean liners such as Normandie, calling upon the finest French artisans of art and craft.

The sailing yacht features 54 suites, ranging from 485 ft² to 2,476 ft², and each one is framed by expansive picture windows or terraces and elevated ceilings, offering a rare sense of spaciousness at sea.

With five restaurants and private dining spaces, Orient Express Corinthian elevates the art of dining at sea under the direction of multi-Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno, executive chef of both L’Orient Express train and Orient Express Sailing Yachts.

A 115-seat cabaret and a state-of-the-art recording studio, two pools and marina complete this world of sophisticated revelry, where every evening carries the promise of a new experience.

Bringing storied experiences to the high seas and beyond

Artisan of travel since 1883, Orient Express sublimates the art of travel with luxury trains, unique experiences and collections of rare objects.

Orient Express has just launched its first hotel, Orient Express La Minerva in Rome, which will be followed by Orient Express Palazzo Donà Giovannelli in Venice in 2026.

The travel experience continues with the recent launch of La Dolce Vita Orient Express train, followed by Orient Express Corinthian in 2026, the first of two Orient Express Sailing Yachts, and finally, the return of the legendary Orient Express train to railways.

Since 2022, Orient Express is part of Accor Group’s leading collection of luxury brands with a century-old legacy in the hotels and fine-dining sectors.

In 2024, Accor and LVMH entered into a strategic partnership to accelerate the development of Orient Express.

Locals laud Vietjet Thailand sustainability efforts in Phetchaburi

The post Locals laud Vietjet Thailand sustainability efforts in Phetchaburi appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

Vietjet Thailand successfully concluded its Fly Green sustainability campaign in Phetchaburi today, 1st August.

The campaign sought to strengthen the airline’s commitment to protecting the environment through hands-on action and community engagement.

Held from Wednesday, 30th July, to today, the event drew in over 300 participants including government representatives, university students, local volunteers, and Vietjet staff, all working together to clean coastal habitats and restore natural ecosystems.

During the closing ceremony, Vietjet Thailand’s vice-president for corporate affairs Sayada Benjakul reiterated the airline’s environmental mission.

Benjakul declared: “For Vietjet Thailand, we place great importance on conducting our business alongside strong commitment to social and environmental responsibility. We are dedicated to contributing to the conservation of natural resources, minimizing environmental impact, and fostering sustainability awareness among our staff and passengers through various ongoing initiatives and activities carried out over the years under the Fly Green campaign.”

As part of its long-term sustainability vision, Vietjet Thailand remains dedicated to expanding its Fly Green initiatives, inspiring greater environmental awareness, and taking bold action to preserve Thailand’s ecosystems today and into the future.

A collaborative effort

This campaign was part of Vietjet Thailand’s ongoing Fly Green Fund initiative, a corporate social responsibility programme dedicated to promoting sustainable development, ecosystem restoration, and environmental education across the country.

Organised in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Chaipattana Foundation, and academic institutions, the Fly Green programme brings together communities to take part in hands-on activities that benefit the environment and raise public awareness.

This time’s initiative resulted in the collection of over 500 kilograms of marine and shoreline waste through the 19th Fly Green: Garbage Hunter activity at Chao Samran Beach.

This brings the total amount of waste collected throughout the project to over 5,300 kilograms.

Furthermore, the fifth Fly Green: Mangrove Forest campaign achieved 3,000 mangrove trees planted, and 10,000 freshwater fish released into the wetlands of Laem Phak Bia.

Pongisara Roilap, manager of the Phetchaburi Provincial Office of the Royal Project at Laem Phak Bia, praised the collaborative effort.

He said: “This is a commendable collaboration between the Laem Phak Bia Royal Project, the Chaipattana Foundation, and Vietjet Thailand in organizing a mangrove planting activity aimed at preserving and restoring environmental quality, creating balance in the ecosystem, and serving as a learning center for the public and future generations. Our project is ready to support the airline and the public with knowledge on the conservation of natural resources and the environment through this joint mangrove reforestation effort here in Phetchaburi Province. In addition to increasing green spaces, the activity also fosters awareness of the vital role mangrove forests play in local communities and surrounding ecosystems. I firmly believe that today’s activity will serve as a starting point for positive change: benefiting the community, the environment, and the sustainable well-being of the people.

Cebu Pacific now flies a 100-strong fleet

The post Cebu Pacific now flies a 100-strong fleet appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

Philippine low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific marked a historic milestone as it became the first local carrier to operate a 100-strong fleet with the delivery of its latest aircraft, a brand-new Airbus A330neo.

Airline president and chief commercial officer Xander Lao enthused: “Reaching 100 aircraft is more than a milestone: it reflects our unwavering commitment to make air travel accessible to more Filipinos. With a larger fleet, we’re able to operate more efficiently, enhance connectivity across the country and the region, and pass on the benefits of scale through even lower fares.”

This milestone comes amid continued passenger growth; as of June 2025, CEB flew a total of 2.2 million passengers, marking a 7.9 percent increase from the same month last year.

From January to June, the airline has flown 13.9 million passengers, marking a 21 percent increase from 11.5 million in the first half of 2024.

A welcome addition to the fleet

The A330neo is also the 12th aircraft of its kind to join the Cebu Pacific fleet, reinforcing the airline’s position as the largest A330neo operator in the Asia-Pacific.

The 459-seater aircraft, which arrived in Manila from Airbus’ facility in Toulouse, France, is the second of four A330neos expected to join CEB’s fleet this year, the first of which arrived last 28th March.

Currently, Cebu Pacific is expecting a total of seven aircraft to be delivered before this year ends.

The new A330neo provides CEB with the flexibility to serve regional and long-haul routes, as well as high-demand sectors.

With increased range and capacity, the aircraft enables the airline to optimize its operations while maintaining cost efficiency.

Airbus NEOs are the latest-generation aircraft that burn up to 25 percent less fuel per flight and produce less noise compared to the previous generation.

The decrease in fuel consumption leads to a corresponding reduction in aircraft carbon emissions.

Archipelago holds fire safety training in Kampung Gasong

The post Archipelago holds fire safety training in Kampung Gasong appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

Indonesian hospitality management firm Archipelago recently conducted fire safety training and donated fire extinguishers to the residents of Kampung Gasong, a densely populated community and environmental steward in Menteng Atas, South Jakarta.

The training exercise is a part of the company’s ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

The proximity of this area to Archipelago’s headquarters inspired a sense of care for the surrounding community, which is highly vulnerable to fire due to its population density.

Through this initiative, Archipelago not only provided material support but also empowered residents through education to be better prepared for fire risks in their environment.

Archipelago chief executive John Flood said: “This fire safety training reflects Archipelago’s commitment to helping communities like Kampung Gasong reduce the risk of fire-related incidents. Our goal is to equip residents with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent fires and respond effectively in emergencies.”

The safety of one means the safety of all

The risk of fire is a real threat in everyday life, and prevention efforts are often hindered by limited facilities and a lack of public understanding about safety.

Archipelago seeks to address this issue with an approach that focuses not only on material aid but also on comprehensive education.

This initiative was carried out in collaboration with the local firefighting team from the Setiabudi district and directly involved eight to ten residents, who were selected to form a community-based Fire Emergency Response Team.

The programme aims to strengthen the community’s preparedness in dealing with fire risks, which are a serious and recurring threat, particularly in densely populated areas such as Kampung Gasong.

During the training, participants were guided to identify potential fire hazards, such as unsafe electrical installations, the use of flammable substances in narrow spaces, and high-risk cooking practices.

In addition, they were taught how to remain calm and organized in emergencies, including the correct and effective use of fire extinguishers.

A meaningful donation

As part of the initiative, Archipelago donated several fire extinguishers to the local residents.

This donation is more than a symbolic gesture: it represents a tangible effort to help establish a community-based fire prevention system.

The distributed extinguishers are expected to serve as first-response tools that can be accessed quickly in the event of a small fire, helping to prevent it from escalating into a larger disaster.

This initiative is part of Archipelago’s ongoing effort to embed human-centered values across all areas of its business.

More than just a hospitality provider, Archipelago positions itself as a socially conscious partner, committed to growing alongside the communities where it operates.

All international and domestic transport services, including flights, trains, buses, highways, and ferries, are operating as normal.

Likewise, the country’’s major airports, seaports, and public transportation systems remain fully functional, with no disruptions to visitor mobility.

As such, travellers can move freely and confidently across the country’s five regions and beyond.

From the world to Thailand

International travel to and from Thailand is seamless and well-connected.

The country is currently served by over 140 international and domestic airlines, offering thousands of weekly flights connecting Thailand to key global cities and regional hubs.

The Indonesian Air Force’s first Airbus A400M military transport aircraft successfully  completed its maiden flight, marking an important step towards the aircraft’s delivery later this  year.

The aircraft took off from Airbus Defence and Space facilities in Seville, Spain, where it was manufactured at the Final Assembly Line (FAL); the plane also underwent ground testing.

During the flight, the first Indonesian A400M performed a range of manoeuvres to validate the  aircraft’s handling and evaluate key systems.

The test profile included successful checks of the  engines, flight controls, hydraulics, and avionics.

A significant addition to the fleet

Indonesia signed a contract for two Airbus A400Ms in 2021, becoming the 10th nation to join the  A400M programme.

The A400M delivers strategic lift to long distances: up to 2,400 nautical miles with a payload of  30 tonnes, covering the whole of Indonesia from Jakarta.

Likewise, it can operate on short and unpaved  runways which is crucial for disaster relief whilst serving as a versatile refueling platform for various aircraft, being a force multiplier and ensuring operational continuity.

The successful first flight of the first aircraft brings the country one step closer  in the development of its strategic airlift capability.

Construction on the country’s second A400M at the FAL is currently in progress, with the aircraft undergoing fuel system testing prior to its move to the paintshop.

Painting will be followed by ground tests and a mandatory test flight in the lead-up to its delivery.
