Jordan’s tourism sector has shown strong performance in the first half of 2025, according to the latest statistics released by the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB). The data highlights a significant increase in overnight tourist arrivals and tourism revenues, reinforcing Jordan’s status as a preferred travel destination in the region, particularly among visitors from the GCC countries.

The Kingdom recorded a 6% increase in overnight tourist arrivals from GCC countries, reaching 633,000 visitors during the first six months of 2025, compared to 597,000 in the same period in 2024. Saudi Arabia topped the list of GCC countries in terms of tourist numbers to Jordan, with 564,000 overnight visitors, reflecting an 8% increase compared to the first half of 2024. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates recorded a 15% increase in overnight visitors, reaching 10,000 tourists, whereas Kuwait saw an 11% decline to 32,000 overnight visitors.

Jordan’s major tourist sites also experienced a surge in footfall. The ancient city of Petra welcomed 200,000 foreign visitors, with a 17% growth. Mount Nebo recorded a 12% increase with 105,000 visitors, and Jerash attracted around 69,000 foreign tourists.

Commenting on the figures, Dr. Abdulrazzaq Arabiyat, Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board, said: “These positive results reflect the growing trust of international and especially Gulf tourists in Jordan’s tourism offering. Despite the geopolitical challenges facing the region, our proximity, as well as our shared traditions and cultural values, continue to make Jordan a natural and preferred destination for families and individuals from the Gulf. We remain committed to developing memorable tourism experiences that meet visitor expectations and look forward to achieving even stronger results in the second half of the year.”

Dr. Arabiyat added: “Jordan has always been and continues to be a welcoming country that opens its arms to guests, especially our brothers and sisters from the Gulf. The harmony between our traditions and their values creates a sense of home for Gulf visitors. Moreover, Jordan offers a safe and secure environment, making it an ideal destination for families seeking enjoyable holidays filled with enriching experiences.”

The Jordan Tourism Board continues to work actively on strengthening the country’s position as a leading tourism destination by offering tailored packages and programs that cater to the diverse needs of visitors—particularly from the Gulf market, which remains a key partner in the success of Jordan’s tourism sector.

The agreement will involve cooperation on trunk routes between Kazakhstan and China providing travellers with more flight options.

The codeshare agreement covers Air Astana routes operated from Almaty to Beijing Capital, Almaty to Urumqi and Almaty to Guangzhou, as well as Astana to Beijing.

For China Southern Airlines, the codeshare covers routes operated on a regular basis from Beijing Daxing to Almaty, Guangzhou to Almaty, Urumqi to Almaty and Xian to Almaty, together with Guangzhou to Astana and Urumqi to Astana.

Hong Kong notes significant increase in arrivals from the UK

The post Hong Kong notes significant increase in arrivals from the UK appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) reports a 14 percent increase in UK visitors to Hong Kong in the first half of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.

With 169,000 UK travellers having visited in the first six months, the statistics reveal a 64 percent recovery compared to the same period in 2018.

HKTB director for Europe Anette Wendel-Menke commented: “Hong Kong itself has always been a significant draw for many travellers, boasting a unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures, world-class food and dynamic energy.”

Wendel-Menke added that, based on current reports, 38 percent of visitors were first timers, which is higher than both 2024 and 2018.

A shot in the arm

Visitor numbers from the UK were driven significantly by the government repositioning the tourism offering to centre around culture, sports, gastronomy, the outdoors and mega events, such as Art Basel Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens.

Indeed, this has helped broaden Hong Kong’s appeal to a wider range of travellers with different interests.

To date, Hong Kong has welcomed several new openings recently including Kai Tak Sports Park, the destination’s largest integrated sports and entertainment landmark.

At the same time, there has been a spate of new hotel openings in recent months, including the Mondrian Hong Kong, Hopewell Hotel, and Dorsett Kai Tak Hong Kong.

2025 will also welcome the Kimpton Hong Kong which is anticipated to open in September.

Alfred Travel set to simplify trip planning through AI

The post Alfred Travel set to simplify trip planning through AI appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

Rising developer Alfred Travel Tech introduced the world to its flagship mobile platform Alfred Travel on Wednesday, 30th July.

Alfred Travel is a next-generation itinerary platform powered by artificial intelligence (AI) with a mission as simple as it is ambitious: “To give time back to people.”

Backed by a team of travel veterans, engineers, and Web3 innovators, Alfred isn’t just another travel booking app: it’s a planning engine, one that thinks like a personal assistant, acts with AI precision, and is designed for the modern traveller.

Indeed, Alfred addresses a fundamental shift in traveller behaviour: from transaction to transformation, from search to curation.

As its developers put it: “We don’t want to take your customer. We want to save them time and send them to you.”

No decision fatigue here

At the heart of Alfred’s product is a powerful AI that builds curated, day-by-day itineraries in seconds.

By ingesting preferences like travel style, destination, budget, and interests, Alfred generates complete trip plans from hotels, restaurants, attractions, maps, directions, to loyalty perks tailored to the individual, not the masses.

According to Alfred Travel founder and chief executive Billy Chan: “Most travellers spend over ten hours planning a single trip. Alfred cuts that down to minutes, while maintaining quality, relevance, and control.”

But Alfred isn’t here to compete with existing online travel platforms; instead, acts as a meta-layer facilitator, guiding users toward best-in-market deals via affiliate partners like Trip.com, Expedia, Klook, and Traveloka.

A boon for both travel professionals and travellers

With its affiliate-first model and zero booking friction, Alfred is designed to partner, not disrupt.

It sits neatly atop existing travel infrastructure, driving high-intent traffic to suppliers, hotels, airlines, and DMCs.

In addition to targeting end consumers, Alfred is exploring white-label and API partnerships with regional travel agencies and tourism boards.

Crypto meets travel with the Alfred Token

Bringing cryptocurrency into the service of travel professionals and travellers, Alfred introduces its native Alfred Token: a blockchain-based utility token that rewards and empowers users.

The Alfred Token transforms loyalty into a flexible, borderless system where users can earn tokens through engagement, and unlock premium features like multi-city itineraries and concierge services.

Unlike conventional points programs, the Alfred Token is interoperable, portable, and tradeable, creating real-world value for crypto-native travellers.

Quo vadis, Alfred Travel?

Currently, the Alfred Travel team is focused on early growth within Australia, with plans to expand into America and Canada.

The goal is to reach 100,000 downloads and 10,000 itineraries generated in the first six months. The firm’s advisory board is made up of the following professionals:

  • Peter Boere: Travelport executive with over 22 years in OTA, API, and enterprise delivery leadership.
  • Katryna Murtagh: Former managing director at JPMorgan and Bank of America Merrill Lynch; specialist in legal and governance for fintech and digital asset firms; and
  • Usman Ahmad: CEO of Zodia Markets; a leader in institutional crypto infrastructure.

Alfred Travel may be downloaded via The App Store and Google Play.
