Four collaborative agreements that could have a significant impact on the MICE sector in Singapore and beyond were signed today, 24th July, at Singapore MICE Forum 2025.

These agreements ran the spectrum from the creation of a new business event accelerator, to enhancements to related tertiary academic programmes, to bringing sustainability training and certification overseas.

As such, these will go a long way towards improving human resources as well as sustainability initiatives within the sector.

Cultivating concepts at home

The first of these agreements was signed between the Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (SACEOS) and the Singapore Tourism Board for the creation of BEInspiredSG, a new business event incubator and accelerator that aims to grow high-quality business event concepts and support industry talent through mentorship and resources.

Asccording to STB executive director for exhibitions and conferences Poh Chi Chuan: “BEInspiredSG marks a strategic step forward in the way we drive growth in Singapore’s MICE industry, creating and cultivating homegrown concepts aligned with Singapore’s key economic clusters to help them scale sustainably.’

Poh added that the pilot programme harnesses the collective wisdom of Singapore’s events industry: combining SACEOS’ mentorship, market feasibility studies, and STB’s support to develop the capabilities of  local players in running impactful international events.

By doing so, the country may strengthen its position as the World’s Best MICE City.

Other key signings

SACEOS – Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)

This agreement seeks to incorporate an event sustainability module in SUSS’ BSc Events Management curriculum.

SUSS – International Association of Exhibitions & Events (IAEE):

SUSS’ second signing aims to enhance its Bachelor of Science Events Management programme with an internationally recognised Certified in Exhibition Management certification.

NTUC LearningHub – Earth Productions

This agreement will expands NTUC LHUB’s Certified Event Sustainability
(CES) Programme to Hong Kong and Macau.

Witnessed by SACEOS president Richard Ireland, the agreement fuses NTUC LHUB’s strength as Singapore’s leading provider of continuing education and training with regional insights regarding sustainability, event consultation, and management from Earth Production’s experts

Singapore MICE Forum opens the conversation on the sector’s future

The post Singapore MICE Forum opens the conversation on the sector’s future appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

With over 300 participants coming in from Singapore and beyond, the Singapore MICE Forum 2025 opened conversations on what’s next in a changing world at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre today, 24th July.

MICE professionals and those from a diverse range of industries were encouraged to ponder the theme What’s Next in the face of evolving technologies, sectoral innovation, and increasingly complicated geopolitical situations in Asia and beyond.

Richard Ireland, president of the Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (SACEOS) formally opened the event by addressing the assembly together with SMF co-chairs Adeline Lim and Dylan Sharma.

Lim said of the event: “Everything is new this year: new speakers, new formats, no coffee breaks. But you’re not going to want to miss a single minute of this.”

Sharma said: “You’ll hear many different things. You’ll hear people talking about things that you don’t hear at a normal MICE conference.  But the true value of your participation is through the value that you extract for yourself and for what’s best and what’s next for your organisations.”

Going live for a third time

The 2025 event is SMF’s third live edition in the post-pandemic era.

As such, the event has made the most of the Great Reset of 2023 even as the industry sought to return to normalcy.

If the 2024 event celebrated the moments of momentum that make the MICE sector, this year ponders the question of what comes next.

For the team behind SMF, answering that question calls for interaction not just within the MICE sector, but with professionals from other sectors and industries.

As Sharma puts it: “I think we’ve really positioned this as a business event for the MICE industry, as opposed to a MICE event. We’re going to be talking about a very broad range of issues you typically will not hear at a MICE conference.”

This was intentional as those from other sectors have a great deal to teach those in MICE and vice-versa.

With that in mind, it did not come as a surprise that iconic Singaporean hotelier and thought leader KP Ho, founder of the Banyan Group led in the discussions.

Ho set the pace for the day’s discussions as he spoke of being open to change and innovation, as well of flexibility to adjust, thrive, and grow further, especially in such challenging times it what is rapidly being acknowledged as the Asian Century.

Constellation of Complicity: Global Artists Unite in Solidarity at BACC

The post Constellation of Complicity: Global Artists Unite in Solidarity at BACC appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

The Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) is now hosting one of its most thought-provoking exhibitions to date: Constellation of Complicity, curated by the Myanmar Peace Museum. On view at the Main Gallery, 8th floor, this powerful transnational exhibition invites visitors to step into a universe where authoritarianism is not abstract—but palpable.

Authoritarianism does not exist in isolation. It is relational, rehearsed, and often quietly sustained.”

This is the premise behind Constellation of Complicity, an exhibition that brings together artists from Myanmar, Iran, Russia, Syria, Tibet, Hong Kong, and the Uyghur diaspora—each confronting the ripple effects of state violence, systemic oppression, and exile.

Each work offers a form of resistance: ritual as remembrance, satire as subversion, testimony as structure.”

The exhibition’s title evokes a sky of connections: “Constellation” speaks to how these acts of violence and control are not isolated, but interconnected—across borders, across regimes. “Complicity” reveals that power is often upheld not through spectacle, but through silent alignment, consent, and participation. Together, the works form a constellation—a shifting network of entanglements, complicities, and quiet alignments that destabilize power as a fixed idea and reveal it instead as a living web.

Through immersive installations, photography, soundscapes, and spatial interventions, the exhibition traces the shared infrastructures and subtle choreographies of contemporary state violence—arms deals, surveillance technologies, diplomatic legitimization, and cultural erasure.

Rather than offering a single narrative, the exhibition prompts visitors to reflect on their own place within the entangled systems of power it reveals—urging attentiveness, accountability, and above all, solidarity.

The Myanmar Peace Museum

Founded in exile after the 2021 military coup, the Myanmar Peace Museum is a transnational, artist-led initiative that reimagines curation as care, remembrance, and resistance. Instead of closure, it offers testimony. Instead of reconciliation, it proposes the right to remember—and to resist. Its exhibitions foreground artists living under regimes of silence, forging a shared vocabulary of survival across fractured geographies.

“The Myanmar Peace Museum does not speak on behalf of the oppressed,” reads their curatorial statement. “It speaks from within the conditions of their survival. It does not offer a narrative of peace as reconciliation, but peace as the right to remember, to resist and to reimagine what justice must yet become.”

The exhibition invites viewers to examine their own position within the global entanglements of power. It asks us to listen. To recognize. To take responsibility. And above all — to stand in solidarity.

On view until 19 October 2025

The Singapore MICE Forum dove right into What’s Next as it welcomed delegates to its opening reception at the new Singapore Oceanarium at Resorts World Sentosa on the evening of 23rd July.

The welcome reception was sponsored by One World Rentals Singapore which specialises in digital devices and IT paraphernalia for events.

The cool backdrop of marine archaeology and live aquariums was a fitting setting for an event that seeks to discuss current trends and the future of the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) in Singapore and beyond.

Indeed, even as it officially opens to the public today, 24th July, the Oceanarium’s new event spaces are piquing the interest of everyone from academic institutions to global haute couture brands.

SMF co-chair Adeline Lim

A warm welcome in a cool setting

Adeline Lim, co-chair for this year’s forum, was on hand to warmly welcome guests and to advise them that the upcoming discussions would be filled with key insights for the industry and to build contacts among professionals.

For his part, One World Rentals’ regional manager for the Asia Pacific Mike Day remarked that this year’s theme is all about what’s next for the MICE, expressing an interest to discuss new innovations and how the professional community could work to transform these into real solutions.

Day added: “There has been a lot of change whether it’s the focus on environmentally-friendly events or virtual reality. COVID, of course, created the pivot to virtual and hybrid events and now there will be a lot of discussions surrounding AI and its integration within the MICE industry.”

The Singapore MICE Forum and the Singapore MICE Awards will both be held later today at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre at the Marina Bay Sands.

India Makes Its Boldest Move Yet, Singapore Stays Unshakable: 2025 Passport Rankings Rewrite the Global Travel Playbook

The post India Makes Its Boldest Move Yet, Singapore Stays Unshakable: 2025 Passport Rankings Rewrite the Global Travel Playbook appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

India - Helo Travel

The Henley Passport Index mid-year update, released on July 22, 2025, has redrawn the global mobility landscape. India surged eight places, climbing from 85th to 77th, marking its biggest leap in over a decade. Indian passport holders now enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 59 countries, including popular destinations such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Myanmar. At the top of the rankings, Singapore has retained its title as the world’s most powerful passport, offering visa-free access to 193 destinations. The July release is part of Henley & Partners’ quarterly index, which ranks 199 passports by the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa.

According to Henley & Partners’ CEO, Dr. Juerg Steffen, a passport has become more than a travel document—it’s a reflection of a nation’s diplomatic relationships and global standing.

Global Winners and Losers

India emerged as the biggest mover in the Henley Passport Index’s July 2025 update, leaping eight spots to 77th place with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 59 destinations. Singapore retained its reign at the top, offering unmatched access to 193 countries. The United Arab Emirates continued its long-term ascent, having climbed 34 positions over the past decade through strategic diplomatic outreach and extensive visa agreements. China followed a similar trajectory, now ranking 60th after gaining 34 spots since 2014, driven by deepening global partnerships. Gulf nations also showed upward momentum—Qatar continued its steady rise fueled by recent tourism and mobility agreements, while Saudi Arabia gained ground thanks to tourism reforms and a diversification-focused foreign policy. Ukraine, despite ongoing conflict, improved its mobility through strengthened EU travel arrangements. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom saw a modest rebound to 6th place, partially recovering from its post-Brexit setbacks. The United States, however, slipped to 10th, marking its lowest position in the index’s 20-year history, and Russia fell further to 52nd amid mounting geopolitical isolation and restricted international access.

While India’s mobility score of 59 destinations remains below the global average of 111, the country’s upward trend reflects growing diplomatic momentum and regional influence. The 2025 update marks a geopolitical realignment in mobility, with Asia and the Middle East seeing steady gains, while traditional Western passport powers such as the U.S. and U.K. face stagnation or decline. As international travel rebounds post-pandemic and visa policies continue to evolve, India’s rising passport power signals a new era of global reach for its citizens.

Japan’s Rising GCC Love Affair Goes North: Hokkaido Becomes the New Star of Summer

The post Japan’s Rising GCC Love Affair Goes North: Hokkaido Becomes the New Star of Summer appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

With Gulf visitors to Japan reaching record-breaking numbers, the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) is changing course—literally. In a bold new move to capture repeat travellers from the Gulf, JNTO has launched a dedicated campaign spotlighting Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost island known for its wild beauty, alpine air, and culinary treasures. The timing is strategic: In 2024, Japan welcomed 44,661 visitors from the six GCC countries, a staggering 34.5% increase from the previous year.

The trend has only accelerated in 2025, with a 20.2% jump in arrivals in the first half of the year alone. While Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka remain the go-to cities for first-timers, this campaign sets its sights on the repeat travellers, luxury seekers, and nature lovers now hungry for new experiences.

JNTO is positioning Hokkaido as the perfect summer antidote to Gulf heat—offering cool temperatures, blooming lavender fields, tranquil forests, and high-end hospitality. The island’s offerings span from fresh seafood and rich dairy, to immersive encounters with the Ainu culture, Japan’s Indigenous people. It’s a region that marries raw nature with refined luxury—ideal for honeymooners, families, and solo adventurers alike. To kick off the campaign, two Emirati female influencers were invited to explore Hokkaido this July. Their experience—marked by forest walks, open-air meals, and serene landscapes—generated enthusiastic feedback and positioned the destination as both exotic and accessible for the GCC market.

The promotion will roll out through both online and offline activations, aiming to elevate Hokkaido’s visibility in the Gulf region. Daisuke Kobayashi, Executive Director of the JNTO Dubai Office, noted, “This campaign is the natural next step as we witness continued growth from the GCC. Hokkaido offers an entirely different side of Japan—one that resonates deeply with what Gulf travellers are increasingly looking for: cool weather, wide open spaces, and new cultural connections.” By pushing the narrative beyond the mega-cities, JNTO hopes to reshape the mental map of Japan for Gulf audiences—turning Hokkaido from an insider’s secret into the next must-visit hotspot.

Newly launched ‘Terra Nova Expeditions’ to redefine Antarctic Adventure

The post Newly launched ‘Terra Nova Expeditions’ to redefine Antarctic Adventure  appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

Terra Nova Expeditions proudly announces its official launch, introducing a bold new approach to polar exploration. The company will set sail aboard one of Antarctica’s most unique fleets:  the legendary RMS St Helena, a former mail ship spectacularly converted into a 112-passenger expedition vessel with a remarkable history. She features an onboard science lab and is tailored to the budget-conscious traveller, with a thorough upgrade completed in 2025.

Founded by industry veteran and adventure travel entrepreneur Greg Carter, Terra Nova is Greg’s first  venture since co-founding the polar and Latin America specialist Chimu Adventures. He has assembled  a team of highly experienced professionals, including Beth Mercier, former Global Head of Sales at  Quark Expeditions, now onboard as Chief Commercial Officer. The wider team includes seasoned  expedition staff both onboard and ashore, drawn from across the polar travel sector. Terra Nova  Expeditions is an independent company founded by individuals from across the Antarctic sector. Its  mission is to make Antarctica more accessible while giving clients more time ashore than most  operators. Sustainability is central to Terra Nova’s approach, with a strong emphasis on lower  passenger numbers per voyage compared to the majority of other operators in the region.

Intimate exploration on Small Ship providing Big Adventures

With the St. Helena carrying just 112 passengers, the vessel is designed for intimate exploration,  offering more frequent and longer shore excursions than larger ships. This smaller group size allows  guests to fully immerse themselves in Antarctica’s pristine landscapes and abundant wildlife—free  from the crowds and constraints of mass-market cruises—all while enjoying a level of comfort that  exceeds expectations.

The vessel’s Antarctic programme will centre on responsible, low-impact travel aboard smaller ships,  in accordance with IAATO guidelines and Terra Nova’s commitment to environmental stewardship. All  voyages will be carbon-offset, and every departure will include integrated citizen science projects.

‘Day sailing in Antarctica’—a  global first

Terra Nova Expeditions is redefining polar travel with the introduction of day sailing in Antarctica—a  global first. Guests will have the unique opportunity to explore Antarctic waters aboard a second vessel, experiencing the untouched polar seas in a way never offered before. The company is also  rolling out additional cruise-and-sail combinations, another innovative first for the industry. Allowing passengers to enjoy the solitude of sailing with just six other guests in Antarctica, without having to  cross the Drake Passage under sail.

In another industry first, our vessel will be equipped with See-LEVEL VR headsets—cutting-edge  technology designed to reduce seasickness and enhance guest comfort.

Adventure Awaits, Without Extra Cost

More than just scenic cruising, Terra Nova’s expeditions include a wide range of adventure activities— all included in the trip cost, along with drinks at select meals, onboard yoga and wellness, Wi-Fi, and  gratuities:

  • Snowshoeing – Discover breathtaking vistas from otherwise inaccessible spots.
  • Kayaking – Paddle among towering icebergs and playful seals in crystal-clear waters.
  • Zodiac Cruises – Get close to wildlife and dramatic ice formations.
  • Hiking – With fewer than 100 guests ashore at any one time, enjoy some of the most

immersive, small-group landings available.

  • Camping – Available on select voyages for up to 30 guests per departure.

Affordable, Authentic Exploration

Terra Nova takes a no hidden extras approach, offering a quality, inclusive expedition experience without the luxury price tag. Guests enjoy cosy, comfortable accommodation, hearty meals, and enriching activities—with prices starting from just $8,790—some of the most competitive pricing in the industry. It’s and ideal option for those seeking high-quality Antarctic small ship adventures that  remain accessible, sustainable and genuine.

Built on Experience

At Terra Nova, we envision Antarctic travel not as a corporate enterprise but as a collaborative  community—an Antarctic co-op rooted in passion, integrity, and accountability. Our diverse team  comprises industry veterans whose combined decades of experience drive our commitment to  meaningful polar exploration and make Antarctica accessible beyond the elite. With a hugely  experienced office and onboard team Terra Nova is well posiZoned to succeed in this niche area of  AntarcZc Cruising.

An Expedition for True Explorers

Terra Nova Expeditions was created for those seeking more than a vacation. It offers a journey of  discovery, adventure, and connection with one of the most awe-inspiring and remote corners of the  world.

Bookings Now Open

The first departures begin in December 2026, with limited availability due to the ship’s intimate  capacity. Adventurers can now secure their place on what promises to be the Antarctic journey of a  lifetime.

Muscat–Beirut Flights Return as SalamAir Expands Regional Network

The post Muscat–Beirut Flights Return as SalamAir Expands Regional Network appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

Oman’s low-cost airline, SalamAir, has announced the resumption of direct flights between Muscat and Beirut, with operations starting December 3, 2025. The route will run twice a week, offering travellers a renewed link between the Omani capital and Lebanon’s vibrant coastal city—known for its cultural heritage, dynamic food scene, and Mediterranean charm. The move is part of SalamAir’s broader strategy to strengthen regional air connectivity and cater to growing demand from both leisure and business travellers. With no current direct flights between the two countries, the relaunch of the Muscat–Beirut route fills a critical gap and marks a return to one of the airline’s key destinations.

“This route reflects our commitment to meeting the needs of our guests and enhancing Oman’s connectivity in line with Oman Vision 2040,” said Adrian Hamilton-Manns, CEO of SalamAir. “Beirut holds significance for both business and tourism, and there’s also a large Lebanese population in Oman that will benefit directly from this new service.” The return of direct Beirut flights is expected to bolster bilateral trade, promote tourism, and serve the sizeable Lebanese diaspora in Oman. Lebanon’s ambassador to Oman, Albert Samaha, hailed the move as “a vital link” that will deepen cultural exchange and facilitate greater cooperation between the two nations.

The announcement comes at a time when Oman’s aviation sector is showing signs of recovery and expansion. According to the latest figures from the National Centre for Statistics and Information, passenger traffic through Oman’s airports reached over 6.4 million travellers in the first five months of 2025, a 3% increase year-on-year, despite a brief dip in May due to regional adjustments. SalamAir has been a key driver of growth, expanding its network to underserved destinations and offering competitively priced fares with flexible add-ons. The Muscat-based airline has leaned into agile route planning and niche markets, positioning itself as a critical player in Oman’s air transport and logistics ambitions. With Beirut back on the map, the airline strengthens its role in bridging Oman to key Middle Eastern capitals.

A New Era for Saudi Skies: Low-Cost Airline Launched from Dammam Hub

The post A New Era for Saudi Skies: Low-Cost Airline Launched from Dammam Hub appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

Saudi Arabia is officially launching a new national low-cost airline, with plans to operate out of King Fahd International Airport in Dammam—marking a major development in the Kingdom’s expanding aviation ecosystem. Backed by a consortium of Air Arabia, Nesma Group, and KUN Holding, the airline will aim to transform air connectivity in the Eastern Province and support the broader goals of Saudi Vision 2030. Awarded through a competitive bidding process by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), the carrier will focus on affordability, network expansion, and regional development, with a fleet and route plan designed to serve 10 million passengers annually.

81 Destinations, 45 Aircraft & 2,400 Jobs

By 2030, the airline plans to connect 81 destinations—including 24 domestic and 57 international routes—with a fleet of 45 aircraft. The project is also expected to generate over 2,400 direct jobs within the aviation sector, creating new opportunities for national talent and aviation-related businesses in the region. The move is a direct response to Saudi Arabia’s ambitious push to grow non-oil sectors, boost tourism, and position itself as a regional air travel hub.

Air Arabia’s Group CEO, Adel Al Ali, hailed the win as a “key milestone” in the group’s regional expansion strategy. “We are proud to be selected by GACA to launch a new national low-cost airline based in Dammam,” he said. According to him, this partnership will deliver a reliable and value-driven travel experience while contributing to job creation and economic growth.

Representatives from Nesma Group and KUN Holding echoed the sentiment, calling the project a bold step in strengthening Saudi Arabia’s tourism infrastructure and a showcase of public-private synergy. “This is more than an airline—it’s a platform for economic transformation, job empowerment, and positioning the Kingdom as a global tourism destination,” said Faisal Bin Saleh Al-Turki and Mohamed Bin Nabil Hefni in a joint statement.

As the Kingdom continues investing in air transport to meet rising travel demand and diversify its economy, the new Dammam-based carrier is set to play a key role in shaping Saudi Arabia’s next-generation aviation identity. With a low-cost model, regional expertise, and national backing, this launch positions Eastern Province as an emerging hub for affordable, efficient, and far-reaching air travel.
