flydubai has inaugurated its first direct service to Riga, Latvia, marking the start of a three-times-weekly flight between Dubai International (DXB) and Riga Airport (RIX). The inaugural flight was warmly received by Riga airport officials, highlighting the importance of this new link between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Latvia.

The new service is expected to boost tourism and strengthen economic ties between the two countries. Her Excellency Noora Juma, UAE Ambassador to Latvia, remarked, “This day marks a new phase in the friendship between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Latvia. The launch of UAE airline flydubai’s direct flights between Dubai and Riga will not only enhance connectivity between our countries but also open doors to more opportunities for tourism, business and cultural exchange.”

Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, stated, “The launch of our new service to Riga strengthens flydubai’s growing presence in Europe and supports our strategic commitment to expanding connectivity across underserved markets.”

In addition to Riga, flydubai has expanded its European network to include Chișinău, Iași, and Vilnius, reaching 35 destinations across 20 countries. Laila Odiņa, Chairperson of the Board of RIX Riga Airport, expressed delight at the new service, noting its potential to enhance business and economic ties.

The flights, part of a codeshare with Emirates, offer passengers seamless travel options. Business Class fares from Dubai to Riga start at $2,044 (AED 7,505), whilst Economy Class fares begin at $494 (AED 1,815). The new route promises to provide Latvian travellers with greater access to Dubai’s global hub and onward connections.
