Sarawak Tourism Board has successful run at CelebrASIA 2025

The post Sarawak Tourism Board has successful run at CelebrASIA 2025 appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

The Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) successfully showcased the Malaysian province’s rich cultural heritage at CelebrASIA 2025 at the Battersea Power Station in London, UK.

Held from 5th to 7th September, the three-day festival transformed one of London’s most iconic venues into a vibrant celebration of Southeast Asian food, culture, and community.

This year’s programme included a riverside Feasting Tent, a curated artisan market of over 30 Southeast Asian brands, and interactive arts and craft sessions for visitors.

STB offered attendees an immersive experience of Sarawak through a series of hands-on craft workshops, live performances, and an information booth highlighting the state’s eco-tourism, cultural heritage, and unique travel experiences.

STB chief executive Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor said: “Our participation at CelebrASIA 2025 was a wonderful opportunity to share Sarawak’s vibrant culture and heritage with a UK audience. The enthusiasm and engagement from festival visitors, from the workshops to the performances, demonstrates the growing interest in authentic Southeast Asian experiences and reinforces our commitment to promoting Sarawak as a destination that celebrates creativity, diversity, and cultural richness.”

An exquisite display of traditional crafts

The Sarawak Craft Council also showcased and sold traditional crafts, including beautiful intricate beadwork and exquisite handwoven basketry.

Visitors were able to engage in two highly popular workshops, organised by STB.

The first, Iban necklace beadwork led by Marek Empang of Pungu Borneo, allowed participants to craft their own necklaces while learning about their cultural significance.

The second, rattan coaster weaving guided by artisans from Kunang Studio, introduced traditional weaving techniques using natural rattan and bemban fibres.

The highlight of the event was the series of vibrant performances by a talented troupe from the Sarawak Arts Council, who showcased traditional dances throughout the weekend and brought the sights and sounds of Sarawak vividly to life.

That said, STB’s presence at CelebrASIA 2025 provided UK audiences with a taste of Sarawak’s arts, crafts, and cultural traditions, inspiring visitors to explore the Malaysian state in person and discover its richness, creativity, and natural beauty firsthand.

Looking ahead, STB will continue to strengthen its international presence with participation at World Travel Market (WTM) London in November, further showcasing Sarawak as a distinctive destination for culture, adventure, and eco-tourism to global industry partners and travellers.

Excel London’s expansion to make WTM London 2025 the biggest edition ever

The post Excel London’s expansion to make WTM London 2025 the biggest edition ever appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily Media.

WTM London 2025 is well on the way to becoming the largest and most influential edition in its 45-year history.

This surge in growth is primarily driven by surging global demand in travel, as well as the ongoing expansion of Excel London.

Scheduled to run from 4th to 6th November this year, WTM London 2025 builds on the success of its 2024 run wherein there was an 11 percent increase on qualified buyers leading to more than 34,000 meetings throughout the event’s duration.

The 2024 also saw the launch of the Capital Hall and Auditorium level at Excel London, marking a major capacity boost, welcoming more exhibitors and elevating the visitor experience.

Now, with an additional 25,000 m² being introduced in 2025, an expansion of around 25 percent, WTM London 2025 is poised to grow once more, with increased space, enhanced content, and deeper high-level engagement.

Expansion makes all the difference

The expansion allows WTM London to introduce WTM Trend Fest, a brand-new cultural programme spotlighting immersive global experiences from across the globe.

Expanding on the event’s commitment to leading travel trends, WTM Trend Fest offers exhibitors the chance to showcase activations on a new cultural stage.

With themes spanning wellness, pop culture, gastronomy, sport, and adventure, opportunities include live performances, sponsorship, themed activations, and daily presentations.

Last year, more than 4,000 exhibitors took part in WTM London 2024, up eight percent from attendance in 2023, covering everything from destinations and experiences to transport, accommodation, and tech solutions.

Even now, early indicators suggest that the 2025 run is in for record-breaking growth.

Continuing to elevate the exhibitor experience, WTM London will debut its live TV channel next year, WTM TV, designed to educate, engage, and connect audiences.

With guaranteed visibility across the venue and online, WTM TV offers partners and attendees with a new level of insight and access to the show.

Expansion at the policy level

The event’s influence continues to expand at the policy level, drawing over 50 Tourism Ministers in 2024, a 12 percent increase from the previous year.

The 2025 Ministers’ Summit at WTM, held in association with UN Tourism and the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), will showcase its most impactful lineup to date.

Indeed, organisers are already forecasting even greater participation in 2025.

Meet the new showrunner

The show this year will be led by newly appointed event director Chris Carter-Chapman who brings strong ambitions to work with industry partners and attendees to help further cement WTM London’s position as the most influential travel event in the world.

Carter-Chapman said: “Although we’re still early in the planning and promotion cycle, all indicators suggest WTM London 2025 will be a landmark edition—already tracking significantly ahead of 2024. With the next phase of Excel London’s expansion underway, we’re unlocking unprecedented opportunities for exhibitors, content, and visitor experiences at a scale never seen before.”

He added that the event’s partnership with Excel London is central to WTM London’s ability to grow and innovate.

As Carter-Chapman put it: “Together, we’re creating a dynamic platform that reinforces the Capital’s status as the epicentre of global travel and tourism dialogue. WTM London is proud of its legacy, but we’re firmly focused on the future. We’re evolving faster than ever before to meet the expectations of a global audience, and 2025 will set a bold new benchmark for what this event can deliver.”
