The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has announced an ambitious plan to reduce carbon emissions by 20,000 TonCO₂e by 2030, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable development within the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry. This initiative follows a significant reduction of 2,445.97 TonCO₂e across 232 events in the fiscal year 2025, marking a 313% increase from the previous year.
TCEB President Supawan Teerarat highlighted that this move aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and supports Thailand’s national development strategy. “Thailand is advancing sustainability from aspiration to achievement,” she stated, emphasising the integration of sustainability into every aspect of the MICE industry to strengthen Thailand’s competitiveness as a premier MICE destination.
To achieve these goals, TCEB has revised its requirements for event organisers, mandating carbon-neutral planning and encouraging the use of carbon credits from Thai greenhouse gas reduction projects. Organisers are also provided with tools such as a carbon footprint avoidance calculator and the Zero Carbon application, developed by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation, to track and offset emissions effectively.
Supawan added, “This commitment reflects TCEB’s readiness to meet the evolving expectations of the global business community and our dedication to helping international clients host sustainable, high-impact events in Thailand.” By equipping organisers with these resources, TCEB aims to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement in sustainable event management.
