The Utah Office of Tourism, in partnership with AVIAREPS India, has successfully concluded the Utah Reverse Mission 2025, a pioneering programme aimed at strengthening tourism and trade ties between India and Utah. This initiative brought eight leading Indian travel buyers to Utah, offering them an immersive experience of the state’s landscapes and culture, and facilitating business engagement with 41 local sellers, including destination marketing organisations, hoteliers, and tour operators.

Unlike traditional sales missions, the Reverse Mission flipped the model by bringing international partners to Utah. This approach fostered over 320 one-on-one business meetings and numerous shared experiences across key destinations such as Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, and Salt Lake City. Tera Atwood, Global Markets Manager from the Utah Office of Tourism, highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, “India is one of Utah’s most promising emerging markets, and this mission allowed us to truly connect with Indian travel professionals in a meaningful way.”

Participants engaged in a diverse itinerary that included hiking through red rock canyons, joining indigenous-led tours in Monument Valley, and exploring the urban appeal of Salt Lake City. The mission not only served as a travel familiarisation trip but also as a platform for collaboration and relationship-building between Indian travel professionals and Utah’s tourism community.

The overwhelmingly positive feedback from both sides has set the stage for future partnerships and increased visitation from India to Utah, with India ranked ninth in visitor spending for Utah in 2025 and forecasted to grow 16% from 2024 to 2030.
