TD breaking news – Brett Jardine to head up CATO

Former CLIA Australasia gm to become managing director of Council of Australian Tour Operators.

The Council of Australian Tour Operators (CATO) has confirmed the appointment of Brett Jardine as its new managing director.

Jardine, who led Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia for almost a decade, has extensive industry experience having also held former roles with APT and Scenic.

The appointment of a new head for the organisation was flagged late last year by CATO chairman Dennis Bunnik, who said Jardine would continue with a strategic plan aiming to boost the profile of the touring sector and better engage with members.

Key priorities will include research and benchmarking on the growth of the touring sector, more engagement with retail travel consultants and consortia to increase sales and customer loyalty, and better engagement with trade and consumer press to highlight the rich array of product available through CATO members.

“Brett is a proven leader in the travel industry and we are delighted to have him onboard,” Bunnik said.

Jardine will take over from Peter Baily, who after 25 years leading CATO will retire at the end of March.
