TD breaking news – Celebrate Australia’s National Agents Day – #AusAgentsDay

Trafalgar declares 23 May 2018 as National Agent Appreciation Day.

Trafalgar has this morning declared that today is Australia’s first ever national day to honour travel agents, and is calling on the whole industry to join in with the celebrations and make it an annual event.

Trafalgar md Matthew Cameron-Smith said when he was at a recent leadership conference in the US, the company’s teams in the US and Canada were sharing their activities around their own National Agents Day prompting him to ask “why do North American agents get all the love?”

“So today, we declare 23 May 2018 Australia’s first ever National Agents Day,” he said.

Trafalgar is running a host of initiatives to celebrate agents today and is encouraging social media posts from across the industry using the hashtag #AusAgentsDay.

Consultants who post an image, video or status (in 25 words or less) on the Trafalgar Tribe Facebook page today saying why the love being a travel agent will go in the running for one of 20 $100 UberEats gift voucher for their store.

The Trafalgar team will be taking to the streets handing out I LOVE MY AGENTS cookies for sales calls received on the day, and anyone who receives them will be encouraged to share a photo using the #AusAgentsDay hashtag.

In addition, every agent who secures a new Trafalgar and CostSaver booking and deposits it on 23 May will win a French inspired prize. And Trafalgar global ceo Gavin Tollman has commissioned 100 trees to be planted to commemorate the occasion with sustainability partner One Tree Planted.

AFTA is backing the initiative, with ceo Jayson Westbury saying “it is not often that travel agents are celebrated and recognised, and Trafalgar is once again leading the industry by creating National Travel Agents Day in Australia.

“I look forward to having AFTA more involved in this initiative along with our colleagues fromt he WTAAA around the world as Travel Agents Day comes to life in the years to come,” he added.

Cameron-Smith urged the rest of the industry to join the initiative “so we can make #AusAgentsDay an annual celebration on the second last Wednesday of each May”.
