Liquidators appointed to Central Coast agency and Inca wholesaler
The Australian Federation of Travel Agents has just announced it is terminating the ATAS accredited status of italktravel Tuggerah and Inca Tours in NSW (which have a common owner) after liquidator Jirsch Sutherland was appointed.
“At this time, AFTA has been made aware that there are a number of consumers impacted by this situation and it would appear that the industry is doing what it can to assist under the circumstances,” AFTA said in a statement.
Italktravel BookSafe will provide protection for consumer bookings made in the italktravel Tuggerah store, however the circumstances of the Inca Tour bookings “are yet to be known”.
Inca Tours are participants of the AFTA Insolvency Chargeback Scheme (AICS), and travel agents are being advised they may be able to make a claim, subject to participation commencement.
AFTA is also advising members that Inca Tours (ABN 8461 2852 687) and its associated operational brands are excluded from the AICS Supplier Failure Benefit.
“Any bookings accepted after 31 Jan 2018 12:01am will not be protected by AICS and members should not accept credit or debit card payments for this supplier,” AFTA said.
