TD breaking news – John Constable appointed as new Group General Manager for Helloworld Travel

Former global head of STA to head up HLO retail and commercial.

Helloworld Travel has just announced the appointment of John Constable to the newly created role of Group General Manager – Retail and Commercial.

Constable, who will report to ceo Andrew Burnes, was formerly global head of STA Travel and has also held senior roles with Tui and other major UK travel businesses. He will take up his new Melbourne-based role on 12 February 2018.

His direct reports will include Julie Primmer, Helloworld Travel head of Branded Network; David Padman, head of Corporate, Associate and Affiliate Networks; Mike Thompson, group general manager Partnerships; and Stan Scott, Head of Commercial.

“I am delighted that John has agreed to join Helloworld Travel Limited,” said HLO ceo Andrew Burnes.

“John brings with him a wealth of experience in the wholesale and retail global travel distribution business, and I am confident he will have a very positive impact on our retail businesses, including our commercial operations,” he said.

The company said the appointment now establishes the four pillars of Helloworld Travel’s operational management team. Constable will head up the Retail and Commercial divisions in Australia; Cinzia Burnes leads the Wholesale and Inbound divisions; Russell Carstensen is in charge of the Corporate and Air Tickets businesses; and Simon McKearney heads up HLO’s New Zealand operations.
