TD breaking news – Qantas announces new codeshare deal with Cathay Pacific

QF to codeshare on CX services to Perth and Cairns.

Qantas and Cathay Pacific have just announced a new codeshare agreement “that leverages the strengths of each carrier’s regional networks”.

The QF code will be added to Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon services within Asia from Hong Kong to 10 cities across India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Vietnam, as well as Cathay’s long-haul flights from Hong Kong to Perth and Cairns.

In return, Cathay Pacific will codeshare on 13 routes on the Qantas domestic network in Australia.

Qantas International ceo, Alison Webster, said the pact forms part of the airline’s growth strategy for the broader Asia region. “It’s good news for Qantas customers who will have more travel options, greater opportunities to earn frequent flyer points, and a premium experience onboard both home carriers,” she said.

Tickets for the codeshare services will be available for sale from 22 October and travel effective 28 October 2018.
