TRAVEL industry veteran David Bell has died in Sydney after a short illness, aged almost 80.
Bell began his career in TV, but then moved into travel, initially in the PR department of fledgling NZ carrier TEAL and then onto Cathay Pacific where he was based in Hong Kong as head of PR for more than 20 years.
He later returned to Australia, undertaking a range of activities including another stint with CX.
He is survived by his wife and three children, and was remembered at a private funeral yesterday, witnessed electronically by a “virtual horde of aviation journalists and travel trade luminaries”.
