TD breaking news – Air NZ boosts trans-Tasman capacity

Two new routes ex Brisbane and extra flights from Sydney and Melbourne.

Air New Zealand has just unveiled the trans-Tasman schedule which it will be operating once its alliance with Virgin Australia ceases to operate in late October this year.

Additional routes include direct Air NZ flights from Brisbane to Queenstown and Wellington, while Christchurch services will move to double daily on peak days of the week from both Brisbane and Melbourne.

Christchurch-Sydney will be double daily Monday-Friday, with the overall increase to Christchurch services representing about 35,000 extra seats annually, up about 15%.

There will also be 125,000 additional trans-Tasman seats ex Auckland including a new morning flight to Melbourne, more evening flights to Brisbane and a new middle-of-the-day Sydney service.

Air New Zealand said all customers booked on an Air New Zealand ticket to travel on a Virgin Australia aircraft after 27 October 2018 will be moved across to NZ operated services in the next few weeks.
