TD breaking news – SeaLink to purchase Kingfisher Bay Resort Group

Ferry operator plans new Brisbane hub to support Qld business.

SeaLink Travel Group has announced a deal to purchase Fraser Island’s Kingfisher Bay Resort Group for $43 million as part of a major expansion in Queensland.

The acquisition includes two resorts on the island – Kingfisher Bay Resort and Eurong Beach Resort – as well as local operator Fraser Explorer Tours and the Fraser Island Ferry business operating between Hervey Bay and the island’s west side.

The group has also announced it will open a Brisbane hub to support its growing Queensland operations, with the backing of the state’s government.

SeaLink today released its first-half financial results, showing a 4.7% fall in revenue to $100.8 million and a 14.2% decrease in net profit before tax of $16.3 million. The company said the results were in line with expectations and reflected the start-up costs of its new services in WA and NSW.
